Sony just announced two new camcorders, the HXR-NX800 and the PXW-Z200, both of which offer significant upgrades over their predecessors. Now replacing the HXR-NX5R, the new HXR-NX800 features several upgrades over its predecessor, including 4K video, an updated zoom lens, Wi-Fi connectivity, and more. The PXW-Z200 offers a similar set of features as the HXR-NX800, but also includes SDI broadcast I/O. Both of these camcorders are ideal for capturing sporting events, live streaming productions, house of worship services, and educational class projects.
Two Cameras, Same Powerful Features
When it comes to features, the new PXW-Z200 and HXR-NX800 camcorders are nearly identical, with only a few differences in connectivity. The main features they share include:

Added Features of the PXW-Z200
In addition to its long list of shared features, the PXW-Z200 also include SDI, timecode, and future MXF wrapper support (available in 2025). Along with the HDMI and USB connections, 12G-SDI input and output has been added, allowing the PXW-Z200 to fit into multi-camera productions alongside other SDI cameras. It also features timecode input and output to facilitate proxy recording and sync with other SDI cameras. The MXF wrapper update will allow the camera to become more compatible with broadcast workflows.
