Sony Reveals Cinema Line Plans and Upcoming FX6

0Share

Already a leader in digital cinema production, Sony is launching the Cinema Line today with products for all types of content creators. While Sony is bringing existing products into the Cinema Line, surprising us all was the reveal of the FX6, a more compact cinema camera. Of course, details are scarce on the new camera, because it is slated for later in 2020, but it is exciting to see it.

Sony FX6 Digital Cinema Camera

I can't speculate too much about the upcoming FX6, although by looking at the image, there is a bit we can infer. Mainly, it is designed to maintain the same aesthetic and basic control scheme as the current Cinema Line, which includes the VENICE and FX9. This is clearly the smallest of the bunch and should be very tempting for many creatives looking to move up to a serious cinema camera.

As for features, well, all those details are yet to be revealed by Sony. However, the image of the camera does reveal ND controls, that it accepts E-mount lenses, and that it will record at least 4K. Considering the impressive specs of the a7S III, I think we should all be excited to see what Sony is making when it is officially released later this year and joins the Cinema Line.

Slated for 2021 is Version 3.0 for the FX9, coming with the following changes:

  • S700PTP Remote Protocol
