Looking for a new surveillance kit? Megapixels, hard drives, bullet cameras, and dome cameras—ugh. Where do you begin? Picking out a surveillance system can be difficult but, thankfully, Swann has released new kits to help simplify that process. All six of the kits mentioned here include the same network video recorder (NVR) and come with an assortment of camera options.
First and foremost, the NVR has eight inputs, allowing you to connect eight network cameras to keep an eye on eight areas around your home or business. Simple enough, right? To make your life even easier, the NVR comes with a preinstalled 2TB hard drive, ensuring there’s plenty of space to store video from the included cameras, but we’ll get to those later. Swann packed this NVR with the capability to accept 3MP cameras for high-quality video recording. If you’re on the go a lot, you’ll be happy to know that the free SwannView app allows you to check in on your property right from your iOS or Android device. You can also customize settings and even control PTZ cameras, assuming your camera has that capability.
Next, let’s talk about the cameras. These kits come with either bullet cameras, dome cameras, or both. Depending on your needs, you will want to choose the camera that’s right for you. The bullet and dome cameras capture smooth video in resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 at 30 fps. They also have IR cut filters to help them produce clear images at night. However, while they both have IR LEDs, the dome camera offers an additional 16' of night vision over the bullet camera, providing as much as 98' of viewing range in complete darkness. No matter which camera you prefer, you can rest assured that they’ll be safe to use indoors and outdoors, because both are housed in IP66-rated enclosures to protect them from dust and water.
These kits are a great option for those looking for a complete setup, since they come with all the necessary components, including an NVR, cameras, as well as cables and mounting hardware.
