These highly portable full-frame zooms feature a 2x anamorphic squeeze and come in 40-80mm and 70-135mm models with an ARRI PL mount. You can also choose between four flare colors—amber, blue, silver, and clear—to match your creative style. Bundles are also available with both lenses in your choice of flare color, and there are interchangeable bayonets available to mount the lenses on a Sony FE, Canon RF, Nikon Z, or L-Mount camera.
Cinema Look
The Sunlight zooms are designed to cover full-frame sensors and provide a unique visual signature designed for dramatic expression. The 2x anamorphic squeeze provides an extreme 2.39:1 widescreen aspect ratio that is common to Hollywood productions, offering more control over the image with a dramatic, ultrawide look. With crisp imagery, high detail, and a fast aperture, the zooms can be used in high-end studio productions with VFX requirements.
The Sunlight visual composition features smooth rolloff, minimal distortion with sharp edges, and a pleasing oval bokeh for a dreamy look.
Optical Design
The 40-80mm and 70-135mm ranges allow you to capture portraits or landscapes without the need to change lenses. They also feature a constant T4.5 aperture that makes lighting your scenes more efficient, and they maintain optimal image quality in low light. The smooth, parfocal zoom design keeps your image in focus throughout the entire zoom range, so dynamic shots such as dolly or crash zooms are made even easier. You can even get up close to your subjects for more drama while retaining sharpness, with close focus ranging from 2-2.5’.
Another intriguing element is the back focus function, allowing you to achieve precise focus and calibrate your lenses even before you put them to work. The anamorphic elements are in the front of the lens, making it easier to push your squeeze ratio and add a flare effect.
Speaking of flares, each zoom also comes with your choice of cinematic flare colors, allowing you to match your lens style with your story. The choices come in sci-fi blue, warm amber, adaptable silver, and elegant clear. And if you’re using more than one color on set, the zooms feature a lens flare ring with the color indicated.
Mechanics
Designed with a lightweight, compact form factor, the zooms can be used on mobile and handheld rigs while making it easier to move between setups and camera positions, opening up more storytelling possibilities. With minimal focus breathing, the lenses remain stable throughout your focus pulls. Each lens also features a 77mm filter thread, 0.8 MOD gears, and a 105mm front diameter, in line with industry standards.
