Avenger A2030D Turtle Base Century C Stand, Detachable Base (Black) 9.8' (3m)
This Avenger A2030DCB Black Turtle Base Century Stand features a detachable "turtle" base that is easily removed for easy transport. A light head can be mounted to the base directly with the aid of a stand adapter (E200).
The innovative design on the Century Stand base allows individual legs to be set at any angle, and can be positioned in locations not possible with classic stands.

I purchased this C-stand primarily to hold my 17' boom pole when I'm doing location audio recording. I bit the bullet and am purchasing all my C-stands with turtle bases for two reasons: 1) transportation and 2) storage. It is easier to transport all of my C-stands in a mini-van full of lighting, audio and grip gear. It is also easier for me to store the turtle base models in a small home studio. I love black C-stands but the truth of the matter is that chrome finish always wears better than black . . . period. That being said, the black finish on the Avenger models seems to hold up much better than other brands. If you have a studio where the C-stands won't be broken down as much the black finish will last even longer, but it's still not impervious to being scraped and scratched. I plan on picking up two more of this model to position rim lamps on one and two talent interviews. The spring bases are also prone to break, but with careful handling these stands should serve your needs for years to come.

I use this stand primarily for my Steadicam, and it's a champ. The turtle base is terrific, it goes together quickly, and the finish withstands daily, nearly constant use.
I have no complaints with Avenger's product line, and certainly non with this C stand.
