Shopping for Lenovo Notebooks

Lenovo notebooks and laptops vary from budget-priced consumer models right up to heavy-duty professional workstations. There are several different Lenovo brands, including ThinkPads, IdeaPads, and Legion, aimed at different markets. Each product line has computers suitable for various applications. While most models run on Microsoft Windows, Lenovo Chromebooks that use the Chrome operating system are an excellent alternative for general browsing, education, and online work.

Consumer-Orientated Lenovo IdeaPad Laptops

IdeaPads feature a slim, lightweight design, and are easy to carry around. They're generally aimed at the consumer market, although high-end models have impressive specifications. Sizes vary from 13 inches up to 17 inches. Screens include general-purpose TN displays as well as wide-viewing angle IPS displays. Model numbers reflect specification and performance. Most come with business-orientated operating systems that offer features like group policy management, domain control, hard drive encryption, and remote desktop functionality. Other differences include slightly lower specification screens that are better suited to office applications. Many ThinkPads have Lenovo's trademark pressure-sensitive red TrackPoint for moving the cursor.

Lenovo UltraBooks feature long battery life, fast response, and a compact size.  As part of Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 line, these notebooks feature screens that open 180 degrees for easy conferencing. They have powerful processors and advanced features such as Thunderbolt USB ports for high-speed data transfer and integrated fingerprint readers for increased security. Most models have backlit keyboards that aid working in muted light. Many also boast touch screens.

Lenovo Gaming Laptops

Lenovo Legion Y series laptops offer high-speed processors and powerful NVIDIA graphics cards for better gaming. They include features such as overclocking for serious gaming applications, and advanced processor cooling systems that maintain processor performance. They have full HD IPS screens with ultra-thin bezels and high screen refresh rates to improve gaming performance.
