The Link Electronics SPA-435 Chameleon Series DigiPhase SDI Phase Analyzer is a device for checking the timing of SDI compared to an analog reference. Timing, particularly the vertical phase, can cause glitches in the video when switching from one source to another. This device can be used to accurately determine the timing of the HD and SD SDI sources.
It automatically detects the SDI input format and the format of the reference input. It compares the input SDI timing to the input reference and displays the timing difference. The timing display for vertical is in lines and the timing display for horizontal is in pixels. The timing display will always be on the front panel and the user can choose via menu option or GPI remote to have the timing overlaid into the SDI output.
Its reference format can be NTSC, PAL, 720P, 1080I, and 1080P, while the SDI format can be NTSC, PAL, (SMPTE 259 M) 720P, 1080I, and 1080P (SMPTE 292 M). The LED’s in the 2 front panel buttons will indicate if the inputs are locked (green) or not locked (red). The reference and SDI format do not have to match, but if they are not gen-locked to each other the horizontal and vertical timing counters will just keep scrolling.
This Phase Analyzer features simple user interfaces with enter and escape buttons, while a rotary knob is used for menu navigation. The 20X2 Vacuum Fluorescent Display shows the vertical and horizontal phase.
