This B&H Kit includes the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 2 SSD Video Recorder and a 480GB Mercury EXTREME PRO 6G SSD from Other World Computing. The two items have been paired in a kit to provide you a ready-to-go solution for recording straight to an SSD from a camera with HDMI or SDI outputs.
The HyperDeck Shuttle 2 allows you to select from uncompressed 10-bit HD and SD video as QuickTime files, and Avid's DNxHD 220x 10-bit codec. Built-in HDMI and SDI inputs and outputs allow you to capture from the camera and then play back on a monitor, without having to re-patch your cables. It features both a rechargeable internal Li-ion battery so you can take it with you out in the field, and a 12V DC power input that allows you to plug the device into a wall socket for continuous power. The front panel of the Shuttle 2 features a simple VTR-like interface, with physical buttons for playback functionality, and status indicators for video signal, SSD read and write, and remaining battery level.
The Mercury EXTREME PRO 6G SSD features a 2.5" form factor and 480GB available storage capacity, with and additional 32GB of space allocated for data recovery and error correction. It supports a sustained 556 MB/s read and 523 MB/s write data rate, which is more than enough to support the 3G-SDI data rate.
