iStarUSA D-214-MATX Overview

The black iStarUSA D-214-MATX Compact Rackmount microATX Chassis is a reliable and stable 2U-high and 15" deep industrial computer chassis. The full size I/O supports all microATX motherboards (sold separately) with dual-core or quad-Core processors and the backplane supports 4 low-profile, add-on cards (sold separately). This chassis supports two intake 3.1" (80mm) cooling fans (sold separately) that can be installed in the front for proper air ventilation. In addition, the D-213-MATX chassis supports a standard ATX PS2 power supply (sold separately) to help meet regular server system applications.

I did an AMD 5600 build at work and liked it so much I had to do it at home with my 7700x. You can only get 4x 3.5 HDD drives with an mATX board so if you want 7 then plan on using ITX. I am putting this at the top of my Echogear U20 because it is the perfect depth for the top slots that don't let the chassis slide out the back since there are support brackets at the back of the top slots. Everything seems to fit together perfectly, no complaints. Most compact function system I own here or in the office

If I wasn't going to be using the external drive bays, would it be possible to install fans in that area?

The iStarUSA D-214-MATX can accept two 80mm intake fans, which would be installed in the front area of the chassis.

You can use the external 5.25" bays with your choice of accessories assuming they are designed to be used in a 5.25" bay.
