Key Features

  • 60mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/2.8 to f/22
  • Compact Pancake-Style Design
The black HD Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited Lens from Pentax is a pancake-style prime normal-length lens providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 60mm. The standard 39° angle of view is well-suited to everyday situations and the slim profile is ideal for an inconspicuous shooting style. A high-grade multi-layer HD coating has been applied to lens elements to help minimize flare and ghosting for enhanced contrast, clarity, and color fidelity and a seven-blade diaphragm contributes to an aesthetic out-of-focus quality to benefit shallow depth of field imagery. Additionally, an SP Protect coating has also been applied to the front lens element to effectively protect it from dirt, oil, and finger prints.

question

will it work as a full frame on the new Pentax k1?
Asked by: Anonymous
The Pentax HD Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited Lens is designed for use on APS-C sensor cameras; however, many owners and users of the lens have often stated that they happily use this lens on their Pentax 35mm film cameras and the lens does cover the full image frame. As such, the lens should also work for use on the full-frame Pentax K-1 DSLR camera. (Do note this claim has only been made about the Pentax HD Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited Lens, and does not apply to other Pentax DA Limited lenses).

Is this compatible with the Q7? If not, is there a similar "pancake" thin lens I can use for the Q7?
Asked by: Jas
The Pentax HD Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited Lens (Black) is not compatible with Pentax Q Digital Camera, because the lens has a Pentax K mount and the camera uses a Pentax Q property mount.

question

What are the differences between this HD lens and the less expensive version? Is it just coatings, is it an entirely different design, is it a different type of construction? It is a shame that it doesn't have the WR feature.

The one you are referring to has has better coatings and is an updated version. With those coatings it will perform better and in most cases give you a sharper images.
