- Reduces Damaging Frequencies by 19 dB
The small EARasers Musician's HiFi Earplugs are designed to protect your hearing at concerts, rehearsals, or in other settings where you are exposed to loud sounds. The earplugs are made of medical-grade silicone that conforms to the shape of your ear and feature a patented open design that allows sound to travel closer to your eardrum before passing through a variable filter. The filter is designed to reduce sound in the damaging range around 3150 Hz by up to 19 dB while preserving clarity in the rest of the musical spectrum. The earplugs are as close to custom-molded earplugs as you can get without an actual fitting, thanks to parent company Persona Medical's 45 years of hearing-assistance experience. The small-sized earplugs are 12mm wide and fit the majority of women, younger males, and some men who prefer a farther-in-the-ear canal fit..

question
Has anyone used these when simply speaking to someone? I am a wedding photographer and am considering buying these for use during receptions when noise levels are very loud, and I end up having to stand near a speaker in order to take a picture. I would need to be able to hear a person speak though, since my job requires constant interaction with people throughout the duration of such noisy events, and cannot be constantly removing these every other minute.
Yes, you can hear people speak pretty well. They aren't muffled at all. I've used them at concerts and could still hear the person next to me even though it made everything much quieter. I have even worn them in noisy restaurants where the bulk of the noise is people and that is the only time I've had trouble hearing people with them in (then again, it was hard to hear without them as well so they probably didn't make the situation any worse). As a photographer as well, I would recommend these, they are very comfortable too.
