Hahnemuhle Matte Smooth FineArt Sample Pack Reviews

Great Paper For Artistic Applications And A Nice Sample Pack At A Reasonable Price

While I Can't Fault This Excellent Paper, One Issue Stands Out. I Just Could Not Find, Written Anywhere, Included On The Hahnemuhle Site Which Side Of The Paper To Use. There Is A Prominent Stamp On One Side In The Corner Which Announces The Manufacturer But No Specific Instructions About Use. And It's A Large Paper And Not Inexpensive. So I Tried Both Sides. Seems To Be Roughly The Same On Either Side. You Have To Decide Yourself And Good Luck.

Since this company doesn't provide ICC profiles, for the 8550 I can't rate it, no way to know how it really performs, the only print I attempted was the PhotoRag 308 gsm. It printed fair but definitely looked a bit off. I used the VFA setting, don't think that profile worked well with this paper. Guess I'll stick to the Epson Velvet for now and possibly look at other papers. There are some custom profiles available at 8 to 10 Euros. Heck it's all I can do to afford the paper right now, let alone to pay for the Profiles to use it. It may be the best thing since sliced bread but with no CC profiles how would one know?

The samples are lumped together without identification. How are you supposed to know which paper is which?
