MindShift Gear 520210 Reviews
Very Versatile
I have appreciated this backpack for a number of reasons. 1) The belt and hip pads give great support for a bag full of gear, which his important when hiking and long treks. 2) There are plenty of pockets for storing different things, including a side pouch to hold a camelback type water bladder. 3) the rotating bag with the most needed gear is awesome. Mindshift has thought of so many things that I keep discovering. I may have to update this review as I find more things I like!
Pretty solid
Comfortable to wear, the rotating waistband attachment is a must.
Fantastic build quality
I've used this pack on one trip so far. I had a leica setup in the small bag with a digital and film body with filters, film, and 3 lenses. I had the large compartment loaded with a Hasselblad 500cm and 2 lenses, 2 backs. This thing is STURDY. Some packs the inserts sorta flop, but this one I have no doubt will protect my gear. I like that I can take the center compartment out as well and just use that to store other non photo gear when I don't want to pack 2 systems. So far so good.
Access everything without ever putting the bag on the ground
The bag is made of the highest quality materials. Lots of features I love but #1 is that you can access everything without putting the bag on the ground. I can fit my Canon R5 with RF24-70 f2.8L and unmounted RF70-200mm f2.8L in the belly pack. Then I can fit the RF800mm f11 in the padded photo insert compartment, and an RF100-500mm with room left over!
One feature not mentioned by others:
I own this MindShift pack, and it's truly remarkable, as is most of what MindShift (now owned by Think Tank) makes. Including a smaller version of this pack. The one thing that separates it from every other photographer's backpack (at least until the copycats came along) is that when you do need to take it off and put it down to get access to your gear, you don't need to put it on dusty/muddy ground on the backstrap side! Your straps stay clean as that's the side you open. So many well-thought out features, and it's an extraordinarily comfortable pack to carry.
ITS FOR PRO PHOTOGRAPHER
VERY NECE BACKPACK
Great Product Amazing B&H care
I think everyone knows the quality of the Mindshift product. Certainly this reputation is why I bought the pack. It isn't my first Mindshift pack and won't be my last. What I do want to mention is the superb B&H service. Buying in the US as a Canadian is a bit of a gamble. Differences in the dollar, shipping and customs fees and delays can make it less than convenient. But B&H takes all the difficulty out of he purchase and even their shipping time was shorter than what I would get from something shipped within Canada. I would without question recommend B&H for Canadian shoppers and am certain I will be purchasing more from them soon!
Perfect for the "one man band"
Of course there a pack that fits everyone's needs but I had a need to be on the move and not ask anyone else to help grab gear for me. I'm of the sort that puts things away until I need it again, so the rotating waist compartment allows me to shoot and store. Then if you need something out of the larger upper compartment you can swing that around to the front after releasing from the shoulder straps but keeping the waist belt tightened, never having to drop the pack onto the ground There are nice thoughtful touches, like the way you can sling carry a tripod, and add on external pouches for additional lens carrying capacity For me this pack answered a lot of my wants and showed careful design considerations. Now if they could only make larger while making it smaller, that would be a fine trick
