Matthews Tray is an awesome utility to have on set!

I used the Matthews Technician Tray with a Pro Aim Heavy Duty Folding Wheel Base stand. What makes this combo work great together is the Pro Aim stand is heavy duty, has soft but durable wheels and rolls easy, but the wheel base/legs do not stick far so it's not getting in the way of your feet. This makes working at the tray very comfortable. If you want to get a little more flexibility get the Pro Aim Offset Arm which gives you 18-25 inches of horizontal movement. It mounts on the Baby Pin and has another Baby Pin at the ned of the arm. Super cool and inexpensive!

With this Matthews tray and a Kupo clamp/arm combo, I can place my laptop near my computer and demonstrate or present with ease.

The 5/8" light stand adapter included with the Matthews Digital Imaging Technician Tray Kit does not allow the tray to tilt; however, the tray has a 3/8"-16 threaded mounting hole that can be used to mount the tray to a tripod or stand that will allow the tray to tilt.

Will there be enough space for a mouth if I use my Lenovo 14" laptop?

No, it's only 16 (or 16.5?) inches wide. I do know of someone who took a similar piece of metal and had a local metal shop put a bend in it so that it looked a bit like this: ___/. (Hopefully that "drawing" displays correctly.) He then inserted the lower edge through the slot on the far right, and it effectively gave him a 6" extra "mouse tray" sticking out on the right. Pretty ingenious IMHO. I don't see anything like that on the MSE website, but perhaps another tray vendor would have something similar that could be added..?

Would a Magic Arm hold this, with a super clamp on the other end clamped on the vertical pole of a large light stand?

I would not recommend using third party adapters or clamps as we cannot guarantee compatibility with mounting. The tray is meant to be mounted with a base stand.

Not much more than a laptop computer. My MacBook Pro has sat securly on it for several years. I'll add a pair of headphones, but not much more. I attach my Matthews Tray to an Avenger Baby Stand.
