Manfrotto 190XPRO4 overview

  • 1Description

The black, redesigned MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO4's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.2" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

Fast Setup with QPL
The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.
90° Column
One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.
Easy Link Plug
The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.
Rotating Leveling Bubble
The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.
Leg Angle Selectors
Each leg has user selection of 4 angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.
Manfrotto's Eye to Style and Design Detail
The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

    Manfrotto 190XPRO4 reviews

MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'd definitely purchase this tripod again if the need arose My previous tripod was a cheaper one that I was pretty happy with, but I was always crouching down a little to look through the viewfinder and frame my shots, even with the center column extended. This tripod is fantastic, as it's the perfect height for me - I'm 5'8 - without even raising the center column. Combination of the tripod, the head, and my Canon 6D is exactly the right height. And it feels super sturdy, which is really what you want in a tripod. The only drawback is the weight - with the head attached, it's heavier than I expected, and may need to think about investing in an travel tripod. But this one will definitely be the main go-to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tripod Excellent tripod. I am 6'4 tall, and this tripod can not only stand tall enough to have the camera at eye level for me (with an average sized ball head), but it can also collapse down to within a couple inches of the ground for macro shots, or whatever else the particular photo you're trying to get will require. To top it all off, it is very sturdy even with a full size DSLR and battery grip attached. The only drawback might be the weight, but this can be accomplished by buying the carbon fiber version of the tripod. I just didn't feel like spending the extra money, as it wasn't a huge weight difference and wasn't a big deal to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Versatile The leg locking feature was the sole purpose of upgrading from my venerable 3405 Jr tripod. Since I have been using it, I have discovered the caveats that come along with the new 190: -The ability of the vertical column to be place on a horizontal plane. -The ability of the legs to swing to a 90 position -The rotating level -The sand bag hook. I have taken shots that previously to having this tripod I would not even have considered; Such as using the Canon 60mm macro lens on a single snowflake.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leg Angle Locks = Broken Nails 90% of this tripod is great. Light, strong, easy to get up and down. That 90 column lock is DECE, but... The flattening legs... the angle locks. I haven’t been able to get them to work at all. It’s almost like they’re defective compared to how easy the rest of the tripod is to deal with. I tried my best to get them to work, but ended up breaking off my left thumbnail. It seems I may not be strong enough to activate them, which is really strange to me, that the hardware would require that kind of pressure to function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Upgrade This set of legs was to replace the legs on a Manfrotto tripod that was over 15 years old. While I have replaced parts on the old legs, more broken aluminum clamps meant they had to be replaced and because the head was still good I upgraded to the PRO4 for its compact folded size. I read some complaints about the plastic clamps on these, but I don't see that they will be a long-term problem. I'm guessing that they are nylon based and probably won't break the way the cast aluminum one on the old set did. Just be carefully locking the legs into place, you can pinch your fingers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pairing with my Manfrotto Besides using the tripod in my daily work, I'll be taking it along on my trips--it folds up compactly and fits easily into my luggage. And because it is light enough I don't have to leave half my clothes behind on the closet floor. I love its simplicity and sturdiness despite the seemingly frail figure it cuts. The power locks stay closed (unlike my former tripod) until I snap them open. It took some getting used to what side I should try to open without ruining my manicure, but I will admit that was completely operator error. I received the Manifrotto XPRO Geared 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head as a gift to compliment this purchase (after much heavy hinting it materialized), and together they have made shooting on a tripod the adventure it should be instead of the cussing and aggravation I experienced in the past with inferior products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Solid I received my Manfrotto Tripod, at first look it is amazing and so solid and sturdy, as well as compact enough to fit into my backpack so I can carry it on any flight, The MT190XPRO4 is so easy to set up and fast, everything is so precise and accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST TRIPOD EVER We have purchased a vacation home and needed an extra tripod. This tripod was at a great price and I expected a lesser quality. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was sturdier than my other more-expensive unit. It's a great tripod. I have absolutely no complaints about it.
