The black, redesigned MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO4's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.2" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

Fast Setup with QPL
The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.
90° Column
One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.
Easy Link Plug
The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.
Rotating Leveling Bubble
The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.
Leg Angle Selectors
Each leg has user selection of four angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.
Manfrotto's Eye to Style and Design Detail
The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 Reviews

Quality Build, Features

This is the first top-flight tripod and head I have owned in 70 years of enthusiast photography. I am impressed with the quality of the build in both the tripod and the head. Solid and sure are the descriptions I would give to both components. The features of both units are basically well-thought out and useful. Areas of improvement include a tripod head that allows complete vertical positioning not only forward, but also backward; and inch or millimeter markings on the tripod legs...a huge benefit to rapidly setting up the tripod in differing conditions.

I purchased this Tripod, first & foremost, for its horizontal column feature but also its higher weight capacity than my 6.5 Lb. capacity Tripod. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by its build quality, weight & solidity. Truly a Heavy-Duty & versatile Tripod for PROFESSIONAL Photography! I most highly recommend this Tripod for Professionals & everyone who needs extreme quality.

Solid & versatile.

I own two other Tripods (different brand) & this is by far the most versatile & stable of the three. I mounted a Manfrotto XPRO 3-way Geared Head. The combination is unbeatable. A Photographers dream.

I move fast on my shoots, and have found this tripod to be a good fit. Quick to lock and unlock the legs. Fast and simple to switch the column to horizontal. For those worried about a loose lock, there's a little wrench clipped to one leg for emergency lock tightening.

This is the 2nd travel-type tripod I've bought in the last 6 months. The first one broke the 2nd time I used it (the bottom extension on the mono-pod leg twisted apart when tightening it after use). When I pull this out of the box I immediately noticed how much sturdier it was than the previous. The quick release levers for the extensions are so much easier and quicker to use than the twist type, and the rotating head mount is easy, efficient, and such a great option to have on a tripod used on location and small studio set ups. I did my research - this was top rated for its quality and price, and while I haven't bought other, more expensive tripods, spending a little more on this one was worth it!

How does this compare to the Carbon fiber version in terms of sturdiness when fully extended and compactness?
Asked by: Derek
The specs are similar the only difference would be the Carbon Fiber. Carbon fiber is lighter weight and absorbs vibration better than aluminum.

The mechanism which converts the main shaft to horizontal takes a little getting used to but I wouldn’t describe it as fragile. I am overall pleased with this tripod
