The BG-C10 Battery Grip for Canon 70D & 80D from Vello is a battery grip designed for use specifically with the Canon EOS 70D or 80D DSLR camera, and accepts one or two Canon LP-E6 batteries. With two batteries installed, your shooting time is effectively doubled. Moreover, when one battery is drained, it can be removed and recharged while you continue shooting with the other battery. The BG-C10 can also run off of six AA batteries, when using the included AA battery tray (rechargeable batteries recommended). It can also be used with the Canon AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6, which provides for an uninterrupted power supply.

The design of the grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. To facilitate shooting when held vertically, the BG-C10 comes with a vertical shutter release button, as well as AF control buttons, and a main dial. The BG-C10 is designed with an anti-slip rubber grip to further improve handling, and a tripod socket to mount your camera directly to a tripod or mounting plate. The grip also includes a drawstring pouch to protect whichever battery holder is not in use.

The BG-C10 will not work with Duracell brand alkaline batteries.

BG-C10 Battery Grip for Canon 70D & 80D DSLR Camera is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 88.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with my EOS 80D I really liked the appearance of the product and I think it looked great with my camera. I think the quality of materials looked great. AND THE PRICE WAS RIGHT. HOWEVER, my camera could not communicate with the battery. None of the camera controls on the grip seemed to work with the camera. The shutter button did not release the shutter and none of the other controls seemed to be functional, e.g., the main dial. It seemed to power the camera OK. I really wanted this grip to work. But it doesn't, at least in my hands. So I reluctantly returned and have exchanged it for the Canon 70D battery grip at 2x the cost. I hope I have better luck with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good, feels good This is one of my favorite things I have bought for my Canon 70d! It gives me tons of battery life, looks great on the camera (makes it feel a little more professional), and has a great feel in your hands. The shutter button for taking portrait shots is a life saver. It allows me to get my lines straight and hold the camera much more steady than that awkward hand position you have to have without it. I was hesitant to go for an off brand, but wanted to try it out to save some money and it works great. I've been very happy with this purchase. Quick and easy install, and a plus that if you happen to run out of your lithium ion batteries, you can run your camera off AA batteries in a pinch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from And the Culprit is: Watson LP-E6N Battery I have to revise my review from earlier this evening. The Vello BG-C10 works just fine with my EOS 80D. When I use the correct batteries. I first booted the BG-C10 with a Watson LP-E6 and a Watson LP-E6N. The LP=E6N is said to be a replacement for the Canon LP-E6 and the Canon LP-E6N. NOT!!!! When I changed out the Watson LP-E6N for a Canon LP-E6N and used the Canon battery with a Watson LP-E6, the Vello worked fine as did the battery grip controls. When I put the Watson LP-E6N back in I had the same problem, battery communication error and non-working controls. Further, when I put the Watson LP-E6N into the camera as a single battery, I got the same battery communication error. The Watson LP-E6N is going back to the store!!! The Vello battery grip is staying at home!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! Fit and finish are great. I don't see any issues with the fit and quality. Wouldn't know that it isn't made by Canon. Comfortable grip. I don't have the thumb grip complaints that I have read from others. The added battery life will help during long weddings, sporting events, or video shoots. For obvious reason adding the grip and two batteries will add weight and heft. Probably not a first choice for accessories for nature and wildlife photography when hiking. In that event, you can just carry a spare battery or two to keep down on the carrying weight.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Way too expensive! I use grips on all my bodies, both for the convenience of extended battery change intervals and because probably 70% of my work is vertical. When I bought a 70D for a second/backup body not too long ago, I went with the Vello brand grip to save a few dollars. First thing I found: don't believe the reviews that claim fit and finish are just as good as Canon's. They aren't. Second: the Vello grip only worked with Canon batteries, not with third party LP-E6 type replacements. Ok; for the price I can live with these issues, and maybe the battery issue is the batteries and not the grip, but then came the third learning: after fairly limited use - 20,000 or so shots - the 70D stopped working. Took it in to my local repair shop (not affiliated with Canon). The conversation went like this: Shop owner: Do you use a grip? Me: yes Owner: What brand? Me: Vello Owner: That brand is notorious for frying circuit boards. Hopefully it's only the power supply circuit. So now I have a camera with a new main circuit board - a sufficiently costly repair that I seriously considered just replacing the body - and a Canon grip, which costs a few dollars more but is a heck of a lot cheaper than a fried camera. I'm generally not averse to third party accessories, but in this case, BUY THE CANON!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adds balance and feels good in the Hand. If you want to not have to worry about blasting away with your camera then this is a good investment. Not only will you double the amount of frames you can take before recharge, this battery grip actually makes it easier to handle the DLSR - giving it balance and added dimension. Ergonomically speaking, the shutter button and some of the controls are mirrored on the battery grip so that when you take vertical images, the controls remain in a comfortable position. Once you try one of these you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second Vello battery grip I have had a Vello battery grip for 4 years now on my Canon T4i, and it has worked flawlessly. This new grip also shows good craftsmanship, and fits perfectly on my new 80D. The only thing that struck me as unusual was the note that stated that the auxiliary AA battery holder was not compatible with Duracell batteries.
