The Pentax DA 20-40mm F/2.8-4 ED is designed for crop sensor cameras and would vignette when used on full frame sensor camera such as the K1.

Yes you can attach a 55mm threaded filter to the Pentax HD Pentax DA 20-40mm f/2.8-4 ED Limited DC WR Lens (Black) and the hood it comes with. But only if the filter has 55mm front threads to attach the hood too.
