Sound Devices CS-633 Overview

The Sound Devices CS-633 Production Case For 633 Mixer is designed to store and transport your Sound Devices 663 Compact Field Mixer alongside your wireless mics, transmitters, receivers, cables, and accessories. It is constructed of 1000-denier Cordura nylon with a rigid plastic frame. Its main section and pocket interior are padded to offer more protection.

The case includes dedicated 6" nylon cable sleeves on both sides to connect to your microphones while the case is zipped closed. A double translucent plastic rain cover allows you to monitor the mixer while keeping it protected from the elements. The case comes with a carrying handle. Compatible shoulder straps and harnesses are sold separately.

    So I purchased the kit option for the 633 and this portabrace bag came with it. Generally portabrace make good products but it seems they overlooked the placement of the rings to attach to a harness or strap. I have modified my bag by cutting small holes near the mixer's velcro attachment point and threaded some climbing cord to make new loops for the mixer to hang. The original placement of the rings did not allow a balanced position for the bag and mixer to be in.. Rather disappointing from a respected company like portabrace.. I guess this is my only issue with the bag, everything else is useful and lightweight, I run a couple of wireless and a camera hop without much hassle, its a tight fit though.. Overall it does the job, but I am looking elsewhere for a replacement that is better designed and offers more flexibility..
