The Formatt-Hitech 100mm Colby Brown Signature Edition Landscape Filter Kit for 52mm Lens is an all-in-one starter kit containing three essential 100mm-wide neutral density filters along with a 100mm Aluminum Modular Filter Holder and an adapter ring for attaching the holder to lenses with 52mm filter threads. Additionally, a filter wallet is included to protect the filters from damage during travel and an exclusive Colby Brown booklet is also part of the kit, offering inspiration and insight into his landscape photography.
The 100 x 100mm ProStop 1.8 IRND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 6 stop reduction in exposure. This 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or longer shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
The ProStop IRND filters have been optimized for use with digital sensors and promote nearly flat attenuation of both visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. This filter provides a high level of neutrality across both spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks.
The 100 x 150mm Soft-Edge Graduated 0.6 ND Filter helps to specifically darken skies and other bright areas of the image. The filter is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a soft-edged transition line between the 0.6 (2 stop) density and clear areas. By having only a portion of neutral density on the filter, you can selectively darken areas of an image while allowing the portion of the image within the clear section to receive the normal amount of exposure.
Reverse Graduated ND
The 100 x 150mm Reverse Graduated 0.6 ND Filter is unique compared to other graduated neutral density filters in that the density begins in the middle of the filter and tapers off toward the edge of the filter. The 0.6 (2 stop) density is placed in the middle of the filter in order to help compensate for bright horizons or other circumstances when the brightest part of the image is located in the middle of the frame. Normal graduated ND filters are unable to achieve similar results due to the physical edge of the filter lying within the picture plane while photographing in a similar manner.
Filter Holder and Adapter
The included 100mm Aluminum Modular Filter Holder accepts up to three filters at once, but can be modified to accept differing numbers of filters through the use of optional spacers and screws depending on personal needs. It attaches to the lens through the use of the included 52mm Adapter Ring.
A three-pocket filter wallet is included to protect and store your filters during travel and storage.
