Miops NERO-MT overview

  • 1Description

This Nero Trigger is designed to add advanced triggering features to select DSLR cameras. The Nero Trigger works by sensing a change based on its mode and then quickly firing your camera in order to capture moments. It features six different modes of operation with adjustable sensitivity in order to fit your needs.

The different modes include lightning, sound, time-lapse, laser, HDR, and DIY. The Lighting mode triggers your camera to catch light events like lightning or fireworks. The Sound mode activates upon hearing a noise and the Laser mode triggers when the beam is broken. The additional modes add HDR and time-lapse capabilities to your camera. Also, the DIY mode allows you to create any kind of triggering system you would like.

This system allows for automated advanced shooting of high-speed or difficult to capture subjects. It also has adjustable sensitivity via the color LCD screen for more precise triggering. The Nero Trigger requires a separate cable for connecting the trigger to your specific camera.

Mounts on your camera's hot shoe for convenient setups
DIY port allows you to build and use your own sensor devices for triggering the camera

    Miops NERO-MT reviews

Nero Trigger is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from VersatileTrigger Perfect for fireworks and lightning. The sensitivity adjustment allows you to match the trigger to the conditions. Also works as a sound or laser trigger. This is a very versatile trigger with easy to navigate menus and adjustments. Not hard to learn. The unit is small and very light. In my hands it feels flimsy but only time will tell if that is a true criticism or just my impression. Nero recommends alkaline AAA batteries and discourages the use of rechargeable batteries. Not sure why but this a small negative for me. I use rechargeable batteries for everything except my Nero.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Service - Great Product First, it must be noted that the original product showed up damaged, no fault of B & H, however, I called them on a Sunday, got immediate assistance and the product was replaced in 3 days with a mailing label provided to return the defective unit. They couldn't have been more helpful short of driving it to my house!! As for the Nero Trigger it's a great product. For photo enthusiasts it gives you a new tool in the creativity toolbox including a lightning trigger, sound, laser and HDR settings. Easy to read, set and operate. Results can be stunning and I'm just waiting for the next thunderstorm to roll in! Thanks B & H for all your help!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was disappointed with this product I ordered this product with great expectations based on what I read on the product's web site. The unit itself looked more like a toy than a quality photo accessory. The auto timer mode worked well and reliably triggered the camera. However, the Laser and Sound modes were a hit and miss. The control swiches to adjust the settings for the trigger modes were hard to use (if you have adult size fingers). The screen display shuts off and goes into power save mode too quickly, and does not leave you time to verify the settings you have entered. For the price, I would have expected it to be a more robust product, therefore I had to reluctantly return it. I hear that there is is a competing product that will be released soon, I will check that, because I really like the functionality provided with Nero. But the performance was not there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good...but, there are better triggers for the price Does the basics... and, the menu is very simple, easy to use and fast to set up. It has a nice compact size. Manual is good enough But, the product simply feels cheap for the price and needs more options - like trigger hold for the shutter (i.e., Bulb use... rather than simply delay before shooting) in DIY mode... and ... also needs multi level set up options. The hahnal Captur Pro Module covers these shortfalls and has additional options for less cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Tool that Works as Advertised I haven't experimented too much with the unit, but I have tried all modes except the DIY input. Everything works as expected and I'm happy with my purchase considering I got it on sale at B&H for $ USD. I'm withholding one star because the build quality isn't great. It has a toy-like feel and I hope it never gets accidentally dropped, because I suspect it might not survive. Aside from that complaint, I looked into building a similar set of triggers and it would have cost me more than I spent on this unit. Note: you must supply the laser input to the trigger; any cheap laser pointer will work. I used a red laser. If you take care of it, I believe it will hold up,over time; I'm just afraid to drop it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but quality is questionable As far as what it's supposed to do, it works well. All the triggering I've tried has worked correctly and love being able to use it to trigger via sound (among others). My only complaint is that the keypad you use to toggle between modes and change settings is very inaccurate. Often times the down button moves left/right, instead of down. If I push it just right (usually after 15 attempts) it will finally go down instead of adjusting a parameter. It is platic so I would recommend taking care of it as it's ability to hold up under shooting conditions could be questionable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well I bought this to use with high speed splashes and crashes. When I first got it the screen was not properly installed and it didn't work. After talking with the people over at Nero Trigger they talked me through how to open it up and fix it myself (I needed it done quickly) Now it works fine, great actually. So with its price point I wasn't expecting something that was built to last forever, but with the 2 year warranty from Nero I am not worried about that. All in all I am happy,,, Could be a very different story had it not worked after opening it up and fiddling around inside.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well, good value, needs improving Used for light-event shutter triggering. Is quite light-sensitive. However there are 2 issues that need to be improved: On-Off switch is too-recessed and difficult to move; Foot for hot-shoe attachment is very tight to slip on and off and wiggles when being placed into or taken out of the hot-shoe. It wouldn't surprise me if these 2 issues break and eventually render the unit unusable.
