Pinnacle's Studio 17 Plus (Boxed Version) is a user-friendly and efficient video editing software for the beginner and enthusiast editor. Much of the workflow is drag-and-drop, and the interface is mainly thumbnail-based. Rendering is up to 10x faster than in previous versions when editing in the AVC H.264 codec. The timeline offers 12 video and 12 audio tracks and can be expanded to display single frames for frame-accurate editing.
Studio 17 Plus supports importing 3D clips from camera systems like GoPro 3D, editing them on the timeline, and exporting them to YouTube 3D or to DVD disc for viewing on 3D HDTVs. The program also features a Live Screen Capture function that allows you to record whatever you see on your computer screen for the purpose of creating how-to tutorials or simply for incorporation into your projects.
Studio 17 Plus features over 1800 keyframe-based effects, titles, transitions, and Montage templates, and a library of royalty-free music and sounds from Scorefitter. The Montage templates include themes like wedding, holiday, sci-fi, and comics and are customizable to your preferences. Studio 17 Plus also comes with 50GB of free cloud storage from Box. 25GB are available right away and 25GB more will be provided upon product registration. Cloud storage will allow you to save files/projects in the cloud and access them from any internet-enabled computer.
In addition to timeline editing, Studio 17 Plus also features a Storyboard mode where you can create rough cuts of your projects and visualize how the projects will look in the end. This will let you edit in a more ordered manner back in the timeline. There's also a SmartMovie mode that automatically creates a finished project for you with whatever video and audio clips you designate. SmartMovie mode is useful for quickly creating cuts of family videos. Studio 17 Plus also features a DVD authoring function for burning DVDs and creating DVD menus. Studio 17 Plus is compatible with Windows 8, 7, and Vista and supports 64-bit processors/operating systems.
