edelkrone 80750 overview

  • 1Description

The SliderPLUS Small from edelkrone is a slider that uses a unique tracking mechanism that allows the rails of the slider to move with the camera when mounted on a tripod. This gives the slider 15.7" of sliding range in a unit that is only 13.2" long. Its compact sizes makes it ideal for travel, as it takes of up less room in your camera bag than other sliders with a similar sliding range. The slider supports loads up to 17.6 pounds.

The tracking system works by having two thin bands that are connected to each side of the mounting plate and base plate. When placed on a flat surface, the base plate travels in the opposite direction of the mounting plate. This will yield results of traditional slider. To take advantage of the design, the SliderPLUS needs to be mounted to a tripod. When mounted on a tripod, the movement of the base plate is restricted, causing the rails to move through the base plate in the same direction as the mounting plate.

With traditional sliders, you're often limited to the amount of dolly in/out you can do, because the slider itself usually will end up in the shot eventually. With the SliderPLUS, the rails are also retracting backwards with the camera, allowing for longer dolly in/out shots. A lock mechanism can be engaged to keep the slider from moving if the tripod becomes unlevel.

The slider provides a 3/8"-16 threaded hole at the bottom of the base plate for attaching to tripods, and comes with interchangeable 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screws for mounting a camera or flat base tripod head to the mounting plate.

SliderPLUS Small (13.2") is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended I love this slider. It's absolutely stable. Smoothest shots I've ever got on a slider (for this price point), with minimal effort. Comes in a sleek, high density cardboard box and custom cut foam that makes it hard not to be tempted to just use it as the travel case. Absolutely no critiques. The engineering is genius and would recommend to anyone. Five stars all around. Shooting on a Blackmagic Micro cinema camera. But used the slider the other day on a commercial shoot rigged up with shoulder rig, counterweight, handles, and a 501 SmallHD monitor. Still smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design and Even Better Execution I've worked with several different slider systems, but this is the best one I have used. Pros: 1) It's compact design is ingenious and makes it easy to bring along on any shoot. 2) The motion is by far the most fluid I have used. 3) The locking mechanism is well designed and works very well. 4) Zero camera vibration during movement, unlike other slider systems. Cons: None that I have discovered yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So compact and portable What I love about this slider is that I actually use it! When packing up for a shoot we pack EVERYTHING thinking, I'm going to setup for a timelapse, I'll setup for some long exposure, I need my stabilizer, I need my monopod, I need my slider. And when we arrive on a wedding day and the schedule is crazy, we have our monopod and a stabilizer (maybe). The slider tends to stay put. With this thing, it's out more frequently because it's so simple and the range is more than enough for most things. Love this little thing and it's so smooth! The only thing I'd love is having access to something physical that I could hold while attaching the ballhead or camera so that I can place it the direction I need and tighten in that direction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buttery-smooth and compact Buttery-smooth motion and a lot of travel in a small package. Very well built and sturdy. The lock button is a nice feature. It does take quite a bit of practice to get smooth, non-stuttering moves, but that's a fact with all manual sliders. The availability of the motion and target mode modules does give you the option to add motorized moves, but still a great manual slider.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need to buy second one - SliderPlus Small We currently own Glide Gear 48 and Rhino 24 slider. We now own SliderPlus 13.2 The SliderPlus Small is smooth and has a small form factor. He has been easy to shoot with the Edelkrone and move around with the tripod, slider and camera attached. The slider felt stable and did not need an additional support. The other sliders required additional stands. We could not travel with the Glide Gear and the Rhino could not fit in a camera bag or carry on. Pros: Smooth Small for Factor Sturdy construction Con. Strap is little fragile. The strap fell off as it was accidentally touched. Purchased a soft case to protect the slider in the bag. My son, who was critical of the slider initially. He now has the slider in his bag and uses it daily. He asking dibbs for it and bring it back to CA . Need a second one for Chicago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slider PLUS Goes on Every Shoot Now We are very happy with our new SliderPLUS Small. The picture is kind of misleading. The way the unit works, your distance of motion is really twice what it looks like in the picture. The unit is also super sturdy. We had been using a larger slider that required two tripods. But over time we discovered we never used more than 30% of the old slider and setup was a pain. The SliderPLUS is a choice you will not regret.
