edelkrone 80767 overview

  • 1Description

The SliderPLUS Medium from edelkrone is a slider that uses a unique tracking mechanism that allows the rails of the slider to move with the camera when mounted on a tripod. This gives the slider 24" of sliding range in a unit that is only 17.2" long. Its compact sizes makes it ideal for travel, as it takes of up less room in your camera bag than other sliders with a similar sliding range. The slider supports loads up to 13.2 pounds.

The tracking system works by having two thin bands that are connected to each side of the mounting plate and base plate. When placed on a flat surface, the base plate travels in the opposite direction of the mounting plate. This will yield results of traditional slider. To take advantage of the design, the SliderPLUS needs to be mounted to a tripod. When mounted on a tripod, the movement of the base plate is restricted, causing the rails to move through the base plate in the same direction as the mounting plate.

With traditional sliders, you're often limited to the amount of dolly in/out you can do, because the slider itself usually will end up in the shot eventually. With the SliderPLUS, the rails are also retracting backwards with the camera, allowing for longer dolly in/out shots. A lock mechanism can be engaged to keep the slider from moving if the tripod becomes unlevel.

The slider provides a 3/8"-16 threaded hole at the bottom of the base plate for attaching to tripods, and comes with interchangeable 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screws for mounting a camera or flat base tripod head to the mounting plate.

    edelkrone 80767 reviews

SliderPLUS Medium (17.2") is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Big improved yet not perfect (1) They solved the version 1 friction problem passing through center point? Yes or no. Yes if U stay on cloth belt. No if U change it back to rubber belt to use with their motion control.(2) U have to put it down with care. As if U rest it against uneven surface the belt will get misplaced. Once I bumped it against a table corner and the belt fell out. I had to sit down and unscrew the clamp.(3) if U EVER use any quick release plate, it is almost impossible to use it on the ground. It's because their leg extension is TINY and your plate is thicker. Plus those extension knobs are easy to lose, which I lost mine in the first shoot (found it on street).(4) All in all, excellent design of the motion control modules. Nothing is perfect. I'm a loyal user of Cinevate, while many talk about Rhinos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations There are mixed reviews about this slider - some say that it's not smooth, while others say it's the best most compact slider available for the money. I was a little concerned that it may not live up to the hype, but I'm happy to say that it did. Rock solid on a tripod with my 5d mark iii and a 24-105 lens, no flex or bumpiness in the rails / when it's sliding... this thing is awesome. I do have a larger (longer) slider that I use for certain shots, but this will be coming with me on trips since it's so compact. Love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love Hate Relationship I currently own a Kenova slider and this slider and love them both for different reasons. I was really disappointed when buying the long Kenova slider that it bent when put on a tripod going from side to side. It basically made the footage unusable. I started using two lighstands to get the footage I needed even though it was cumbersome and annoying. Recently I purchased this slider when I heard you could just leave it on a tripod and never have the shifting of weight issue (I currently use a nice heavy tripod and tripod head). This would have solved many issues with me as a wedding shooter. I love how small it is and I think the build quality is fantastic. Once getting my footage into my NLE though, I noticed that it bends on either side, just like my old slider. I assumed this may happen with the large, but I can't believe it actually happens with the medium, especially hearing that it doesn't. This really almost makes this slider unusable for me. It's not even like I shoot with heavy gear either. I use a GH4 and small lenses (35-100, 12-35). I'm very disappointed and am very seriously considering returning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from stays on my tripod Great product. I lock it and keep it on my tripod for the duration of my shoot. It is well built. Very light. When you move from one side to other there is a slight shift of balance. you need an over size tripod which kills the purpose of having travel size slider... Very easy to use..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth as silk Stays portable and still give access to a respectable length of buttery smooth footage. There's a lot that can be achieved within a couple of feet of distance. And this subtle camera movement through this slider can breath life into an otherwise mundane shot. You will need a professional tripod with a fluid head to mount these sliders on. The smaller screw size on entry level tripods will not fit into the female thread of these sliders. You can upgrade to Edelkrone's Target Module and Action Module that can automate the sliding process with precise timelines. but I decided to get there gradually. I'm having fun shooting with this slider in its bare minimum form. There's definitely a learning curve, and a lot to be explored in the manual mode, and that's where the fun is! Overal, it's the best portable slider, can be slightly better priced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting and Compact Design I had a wedding approaching that I would be filming and needed a compact, high quality slider to take because I would be traveling 4 hours to the location and would be shooting it by myself so I needed a quick setup and operation. This slider behaves beautifully when you have it calibrated right. It takes a little bit of adjusting out of the box, which Edelkrone has a video explaining all about the slider and setup. The only issue I had was bowing side to side; it didn't so much appear to be the slider itself bending but rather a combination of a few things: a non-flush connection with the QR plate that might compress the cushioning with the weight of the attached camera and fluid head, occasionally the malleability of the ground underneath the tripod (such as when shooting on grass or dirt and the feet are not on solid ground), and a tripod spread that was not solid enough to support the shifting weight. It is difficult to shoot dynamic movements with a fluid head while sliding, but that will just take time and experience to learn what does and does not work. Overall, very pleased with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth Sliding This slider is wonderful. It slides very smoothly and quietly. I love that its compact and easy to carry in a bag. The only negative I can say is: I wish it came with a case of some sort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing slider This is the slider I have been looking for. It is very well built, smooth and gives what I need: consistency of performance. Two thumbs way up. The travel distance is almost like magic considering its actual length.
