The 4-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCIe Card with SATA Power Connector & UASP from StarTech adds 4 external USB 3.0 ports to any PCIe-enabled computer system with support for data rates up to 5 Gb/s. The card uses a "stacked" port layout that places the ports one on top of the other, enabling all four USB 3.0 ports to be external facing, while still allowing the card to fit into a small form factor/low-profile computer system using the included low-profile bracket. Additionally, with a built-in SATA power connector, each USB port can provide up to 900mA of power to devices that draw power from a host bus connection (500mA for USB 2.0) by connecting to your computer's power supply.

Enhanced with UASP support (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), this USB 3.0 controller performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB 3.0 when paired with a UASP supported enclosure. Using a more efficient protocol than the traditional USB BOT (Bulk-Only Transport), UASP technology optimizes transfers by allowing multiple commands to be processed simultaneously, significantly increasing transfer speeds with less wait time on data transfers. UASP is supported in Windows 8, Server 2012, and Linux kernel 2.6.3 or later.

Note: UASP require a compatible operating system.

4-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCIe Card with SATA Power Connector & UASP is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised, easy installation and driver setup Added this to an old Dell XPS to use a new USB3 external hard drive. Transfers files only about 2.5 times the speed when used in a USB2 port but that's because the with the news drives, you never know what disk is actually in the case (WD and Segate won't tell you, they only quote the speed of the interface which means nothing without knowing how fast the mechanism inside is!). Startech tech support is first rate. I bought this for my home computer after replacing a no name card that did not work with this at the office. The only negative is that actually plugging in the USB cable is difficult due to the port taking up the whole width of the standard slot. The metal pieces between the ports get in the way. Would work much better if the ports were rotated 90 degrees. The only

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm glad I took the chance I have an HP Slimline so I used the low profile bracket and noticed the same problem as another review with the down brace in the way of the ports, a pair of tin snips fixed that. If you want to power accessories you'll need a 15 pin SATA power Y splitter cable (1 male, 2 female ends). Ran the setup from included CD in Windows 10 and all is good. This is a great little card. Just don't be afraid to do some modifications if you have a small case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good USB 3.0 Card Installation in HP Z220 workstation was simple except I needed a SATA power extender cable so it could power connected devices. The cable I purchased was 12 and just long enough. 18 would have been better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slim and easy Works great in small form factor machines, gives USB 3.0 to older systems for devices that require the extra power.
