StarTech ICUSB2321F Overview

The 6' USB Male to RS232 Male Adapter Cable from StarTech converts a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port into a DB9 RS232 serial port to connect, monitor, and control your serial devices.

This compact adapter features COM retention, allowing the same COM port value to automatically be reassigned to the port if the cable is disconnected and reconnected to the host computer, or if the system is rebooted. It uses the FTDI chipset which supports additional customization, advanced features, and more compatibility with other devices.

This adapter is ideal for IT administrators looking to add legacy functionality to newer notebooks, PCs, and servers that lack an integrated RS232 port. It is compatible with Windows, Windows CE, Mac OS, and Linux, making this product easy to integrate into mixed environments.

Unlike normal serial adapaters which you plug in and it works, this doesn't.
