The tray-less, black 3.5" eSATA USB SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure from StarTech is an eSATA/USB removable SATA HD Enclosure. It features a tray-less design that eliminates the need to mount the hard drive in the enclosure, thus making it easy to access data on the go. Insert a 3.5" SATA (SATA I, SATA II, SATA III) hard drive into the enclosure, close the panel door, and connect the enclosure to the computer through either eSATA (external SATA) or USB. To remove the hard drive from the enclosure, open the panel door and pull the SATA hard drive out.
This external hard drive enclosure can be connected to a host computer through either eSATA or USB, and supports data transfer speeds up to 1.5 Gb/s for eSATA or 480 Mb/s for USB 2.0. The enclosure is constructed to provide a durable housing for inserted drives to prevent physical damage to the drives while in transit, and features lockable front door access for added data security. Large capacity drives (tested with up to 4TB) can be used to greatly enhance your computer's storage/backup capabilities. To ensure a cool operating environment, the SATA HDD enclosure provides a built-in 1.5" fan that re-distributes the heat build-up generated as a result of typical hard drive operation. This redistribution is important for large volume storage, and faster spinning drives (i.e. 7200 RPM), as it keeps drives running cooler, which preserves data integrity and the drive's lifespan by reducing the chances of premature failures.
