The Nikon G Lens to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Speed Booster from Metabones allows a Nikon G lens to be mounted to a Pocket Cinema Camera, and in doing so, increases the angle of view and the maximum aperture.

The 6-element optical design within the Speed Booster incorporates ultra-high index glass to achieve ideal optical performance at the largest apertures. It increases the maximum aperture by 1 2/3 stops with a maximum aperture of f/0.74, and reduces the crop factor from 2.88x to 1.75x.

The Speed Booster not only increases the field of view and lens speed, it also increases the lens' MTF, or how faithfully the lens transfers detail from the object to the camera sensor. These increases in MTF are seen in the corners as well as the center of the images.

Built into the Speed Booster is a clickless aperture ring, a must-have feature for cinematographers, as well as a removable Arca-type compatible tripod mount.

This Speed Booster is not compatible with the Nikkor 2.1cm f/4.0 lens, or the 20mm f/2.8 AI-S lens.

Nikon G Lens to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Speed Booster is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 57.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous accessory for BMPCC Even with the Nikon 18-55 kit lens attached, the speedbooster makes it a useful lens with a decent aperture. When you put something like an f1.8 on it, you're getting into Kubrick NASA territory, which is AMAZING for the price you're paying. Things to note - this adapter makes the lens completely manual. No autofocus, no metering or iris or anything like that. There is an aperture ring on the Speedbooster that you use to control aperture, but it only has a range of 7 stops. In a really bright setting you will probably need ND filters. Also note that this product will not fit on the big BMCC or any M43 camera. It's only for the pocket. This combined with a quality lens like the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 is just about a killer combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing If you own a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, and Nikon lenses, this product is a must. I own the original Speedbooster for M4/3, but this one produces even better results. Just as sturdy and well constructed as the original, this new BMPCC speedbooster will allow you to use even more of your lens area. I use it with the Nikon mounted versions of the Rokinon lens set (8mm, 16mm, 24mm, 36mm & 85mm)and they all work perfectly. The images are are brighter and sharper. Sharper? Yes, two reasons. One, you can stop down more because more light is coming in while not effecting DOF because (again) you've seeing more of the image. Two, your squeezing more of the frame down onto the sensor. See attached sample. This little gem takes the BMPCC to a whole new level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's what I expected It seems a bit much to pay just to make this camera capable of getting wide. But then again, it's pretty amazing that you can get a 0.74 aperture if you use an f1.2 lense. I'm currently hunting one down, as this is the main reason I bought the adapter. I also wanted to be able to use an 8mm fisheye to film skateboarding but the 1.74x(?) crop factor still isn't wide enough. I need something like 1.42x which you can get on the GH3 w/ OG speed booster. In regards to fit, mine is almost too snug on both ends. At first I thought I was going to break something trying to attach it to the camera! Better than it having play though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have for Blackmagic Pocket owners I got the Metabones to be used with my collection of Nikon glasses, from AIS lens with manual focus to G pata negra (as we call them in Spain), 24-70 2.8 lens. Once used, you can't get rid of it. Not only makes the lens F number of your lens lower, but also makes the 'X factor' of the Blackmagic get lower too. So, for example, with the 24-70 you have a (aproximately) 40-120 1.4 equivalent in 35 mm. You can also have manual control of the iris without clicks when using a D or G Nikon lens. There's no chromatic aberrations or distorsion. I don't see other reason than the price (not so high for the quality of the adapter) for not buying one if you own a BBPCC and a lot of Nikon lenses or plan to buy them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely great! The adapter is magical! I can finally use my BMPCC as I was using Super35mm camera. Even thiugh crop factor is slightly more than Super35. I was surprised to see that manual aperture is not made by adding separate aperture, but actually has some kind of claw that grabs aperture lever on F mount lenses and changes the f-stop! And almost two stops of exposure that this adapter is giving you still keeping the depth of field pretty wide make this adapter must buy for all BMPCC users. Two things that I dont like.1) First time you put it on the camera you have to force it to fit the mount.2) No case, not even little bag. For $ could have given us a little bag.But it still is a wonderful piece of equipment and you have to have it! But you have to catch it in stock though;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Missing link As good as the Pocket camera is, with the extreme crop factor it is at best a niche camera. Shooting a wide angle (27mm or lower) was next to impossible. All my wide lenses were all of a sudden portrait lenses. This meant the camera was limited in it's uses. Maybe a second camera covering a close up. The Metabones speed booster changed all that. It effectively gives me all my focal lengths back as well as adding a stop and a half to all my glass! This is a genius piece of equipment and really should be bolted on to every Pocket Camera that leaves the factory. It not only makes all my glass faster, it also is extremely sharp and sturdy. I was annoyed at how much this lens adaptor cost, but knowing how much it improves this camera i would pay double. The camera went from sitting on the shelf waiting for a reason to use it, to carrying it around with me on the set at all times. It changed the BMPCC from a gimmick to a tool. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA WITHOUT ONE OF THESE TOO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best addition to my bmpcc This does amazing things for your BMPCC. I had a few good MFT lenses, but this opens up the door to a huge array of lenses plus gives you more speed and width. I didn't have the issues that others had and my speed booster went on with no issues and felt like a perfect fit. I got an old 50mm 1.8 Nikon lens and hooked it up with amazing results... One thing to keep in mind you have to set the camera's F-stop to all the way shut - then the speedboosters F-stop ring takes over and can be used for adjustment (it's also non-click!!). It reduces the high 2.88 crop factor on the BMPCC to 1.75 so you can finally get wider shots on the BMPCC. The math: if you have a f1.8 lens divide by 1.66 and your lens speed is a f1.08 with the speedbooster. Focal length is x 1.75. So a 50mm = 87.5mm. So my 50mm 1.8 lens acts like a 87.5mm f1.08 lens with beautiful results. I highly recommend the nikon mount if you dislike autofocus (it doesn't have it). In addition you can find some of these old nikon lenses for cheap and they produce beautiful sharp images. I'm still in love with how good video looks with these old lenses and the BMPCC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must buy item! Right away, you know that as soon as you open the box there is a high level of quality. Everything about this adapter is well made. One word of warning, attaching this to your Blackmagic Pocket camera is challenging. It took me a while because the amount of force to attach it seemed excessive. That said, once it's on, it's secure. My thought is that it's so close to the sensor that it can't afford even a micro on slack. Let me stress this again. Putting it on takes some effort. So much so that I thought I was going to break my camera gripping it to move it into position. But this and the Blackmagic Pocket camera are made so well, that I realize that I'm most likely basing it on the lightweight Canon and Nikon bodies.
