Metabones MB_SPNFG-BMPCC-BM1 Overview

The Nikon G Lens to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Speed Booster from Metabones allows a Nikon G lens to be mounted to a Pocket Cinema Camera, and in doing so, increases the angle of view and the maximum aperture.

The 6-element optical design within the Speed Booster incorporates ultra-high index glass to achieve ideal optical performance at the largest apertures. It increases the maximum aperture by 1 2/3 stops with a maximum aperture of f/0.74, and reduces the crop factor from 2.88x to 1.75x.

The Speed Booster not only increases the field of view and lens speed, it also increases the lens' MTF, or how faithfully the lens transfers detail from the object to the camera sensor. These increases in MTF are seen in the corners as well as the center of the images.

Built into the Speed Booster is a clickless aperture ring, a must-have feature for cinematographers, as well as a removable Arca-type compatible tripod mount.

This Speed Booster is not compatible with the Nikkor 2.1cm f/4.0 lens, or the 20mm f/2.8 AI-S lens.

question

Can you screw this on a standard tripod head without having to use a plate?
Asked by: ROB G.
This adapter has an Arca-type compatible tripod mount on the bottom of it. If you have an Arca Type connection on your tripod, such as B&H # KIQRC10, you will be able to mount it.https://bhpho.to/2zpagrK

question

How do I measure light using this adaptor? As its manual aperture ring I would not be able to see lens f stop in camera. How to calculate maximum aperture for a lens? Do I have to multiply for 1 2/3? The results are not consistent. Please advice.
Asked by: Anirudh M.
This device is meant to be used in conjunction with the camera's built-in light meter. The numerals of the lens are not stops of course, they are reference markings. As in the tradition of film cinematography, I recommend doing tests to determine what exposure you get at each of the reference markings.

question

Has anyone tried this adapter with Sigma 85mm 1.4 ART? Because I've found some opinions that this set doesn't work.
Asked by: Anonymous
We were unable to find negative reports on such a combination. Metabones does not exclude the Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art on its Metabones Nikon G Lens to Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Speed Booster page. On the other hand, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art with this adapter has been a big success. We feel then you should not have issues using the 85mm and this adapter.
