12TB Mercury Elite Pro Qx2 RAID Solution Kit (4 x 3TB) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Disk Array The OWC 12TB works as advertised. It's quite and so far reliable. I use it store video files which can reach the 1TB to 2TB size range. The array has enough read/write speed and throughput speed to be able to playback HD 1920x1080@60P files. There some things to need know if purchased the B & H Photo Kit version. The drives used with the kit do not include the formatting utility described in the installation instructions. If you are going to setup the unit as one large drive you must use the USB 3.0 connection. The large drive configuration requires Port Multiplication. eSATA does not support this natively. The Firewire connection is too slow for media files. Since there is no OWC formatting utility you will need to use the Windows Disk Manager to format the drives. Before you begin formatting you must set the drive to a GUID partition table and use NTFS as the format. Otherwise, you will end up with access to only one of the four drives. The USB 3.0 cable that comes with the unit is too short to be useful. Make sure you purchase at least a 3ft cable. All of my external drivers are located away from the my computers so I have to use 6ft to 10 cables. I purchase Blue USB 3.0 cables that way I can tell at glance if it's connected to a USB 3.0 device or a USB 2.0 device.
