Magnus VPH Series Video Head Overview

The VPH-10 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head from Magnus has a load capacity of 6.6 lb, weighs just 12.8 oz, and stands 4.25" high. It has a removable pan handle with a foam grip which provides smooth pans thanks to the fluid cartridge drag system. Separate pan and tilt locks allow for individual control of the 360° panning motion and the front-to-back tilt.

The included quick-release plate has a cork coating to grip and protect the base of your camera, a video pin, and a 1/4"-20 threaded camera mount. The head has a 3/8"-16 threaded female mount with a 1/4"-20 bushing adapter, allowing it to mount on most tripods or other supports.

Yes, the Magnus VPH-10 has a 3/8" mounting thread and can attach to the 3/8" screw on the Manfrotto 385 post.

No it will not. This tripod head uses its own proprietary quick release plate system.

Generally speaking, it is very rare for competing tripod head manufacturer's plates to be compatible. According to the Magnus distributor, no Manfrotto plates can fit on any Magnus tripod head.

Fortunately, the photography industry standardized on tripod mounts being either 1/4 or 3/8 . Thus you can usually take the head off a tripod and put another on straight away. That is this case. Enjoy.

The weight of both the Nikon D780 and the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm would be under the weight limit of the Magnus VPH-20 Video Pan & Tilt Fluid Head (11lbs). It would hold it up just fine.
