Vello GSPU-OEM1 Overview

  • 1Description

This LCD Screen Protector Ultra from Vello is a sheet of ultra-thin (0.02") optical glass used to safeguard the LCD monitor of the Olympus Olympus E-P5, E-M1, E-M5 II, E-M10, and E-M10 II. It easily adheres to the screen via static, without trapping air bubbles, and if removed, won't leave a sticky residue behind. Multiple layers of protective material shield your display from dirt, scratches, sweat, smears, and light impact. The shatter-proof glass blocks UV rays while allowing visible light in. Additionally, the protector enables touchscreen operation. It can be easily cleaned using the supplied microfiber cloth and wet wipe.

Note: May prevent LCD from fully locking

    Vello GSPU-OEM1 Reviews

LCD Screen Protector Ultra for Olympus E-M1, E-M5 II, E-M10 & E-M10 II Camera is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vello stands behind its products. In my earlier review, I gave this screen protector for the Olympus e-m1 II 2 stars because of the difficulty in getting the protector correctly installed. Very quickly, Vello reached out to me and was sincerely interested in understanding the problem I encountered.Vello does stand behind their product and is also interested in improving their products. Consequently, I will try this product again. I will say I have other Vello products used with my Canon 5D III and have been very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent on E-M1 Works as advertised on my E-M1. Love it. Thought I'd give it a try on my E-M5II, which does have same size LCD. Works fine, but the screen can't be flipped into 'reverse', as the glass is just a shade thick and prevents screen from locking closed. (Just thought I'd add that for those wondering/asking about the E-M5II)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Happy While appearing to be a first rate product, it is advertised to fit the Olympus OM-D E-M1 MK II, which it does not. The glass is too thick to allow the screen to swivel and close, display side in. Because the product is really no longer usable and it would cost a large fraction of its price to return (not to mention my time, etc.) I'll eat this item and not return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Most Useful Product I actually have the Vello LCD Screen Protector on all of my equipment. It is easy to install, never slips or moves, easy to wipe off and remains clear and easy to see through. Since my comfort zone for my cameras-on their straps around my neck-is just about belt level, this is a MUST for me as it protects my LCD from button and belt buckle bumps/scratches. Along with a good filter and lens hood, I would rate the Vello as one of the MUST HAVE items for any photographer who cares for his cameras!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vello, LCD Screen Protector Ultra for Olympus E-M1 & E-M10 I bought 3 of these screen protectors and installed one on my Olympus EM10 and one on my E-P3. I kept the 3rd for a spare. I also have an EM5 Mk II, but the display flips around and closes so it doesn't need a protector but I think it would fit that camera too. They fit beautifully and unless you know, you can't tell it's there. The surface is easy to clean and of course does not restrict the operation in any way. Great piece of accessory kit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product, But Be Very Careful Installing It! I had to buy this twice. Initially I bought one for my Olympus and one for my Canon. It installed on my Canon without any problem and looked great. I then tried to install the one for my Olympus and initially got it on the screen slightly crooked. Me, being a person who can not put up with crooked things peeled it off from a corner and re-applied it. It still was not to my liking, so I peeled it off from the other corner. I finally got it on the screen straight, but the corners where I peeled the glass off would not stick to the screen and it looked horrible. I must have bent the screen protector in trying to reposition it. I did not know glass would bend and not go back to its original form. Well I debated trying to return the protector or just living with the obvious bad corners. I am not the type of person who can put up with a screen protector that looks bad- I wanted to say another word, but the profanity filter would not allow it. Since the problem was partly caused by my repositioning I was not sure I had a valid complaint about the product, but on the other hand I thought it should not deform so easily. So, because it worked out great for my Canon I decided just to order another one and do a better job at lining it up before letting it contact and adhere to the screen. So I did just that and it worked out very well and looks great. The touch screen works as it should. So, if you are considering purchasing this product, I can tell you it looks great if you get it right. BEWARE not to screw it up, the glass will bend and deform if you try to remove it and reapply it. Yes I would recommend it to a friend with the above warning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for E-M1 ? If I've installed it correctly on the E-M1 mark ii, the back of the camera will not close flush with the back when the screen is reversed. It looks like the camera tolerances are too narrow, e. g. the protector is too thick. Had the came problem with another brand also. It is fine if you don't reverse the screen. I hope others will comment about their experience (Hope it's my doing rather than the product).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Second chance You better get it right the first time with no air bubbles because you will not get a second chance. I could not get the air bubbles out and had to lift the screen. I did not know that it would be impossible to place the screen again. The glass screen warps and there is no way that you will be able to avoid a huge bubble in the center. At this price, I will not be trying it again.

    question

Is there anyway to remove a small fingerprint on the sticky side of the protector and then re-apply it?
    Asked by: Mitch W.
Try using a scotch tape to lift the fingerprint away then re-apply. Do not lift the whole protector off, onlythat section w the fingerprint.

    question

Has anyone successfully installed this on an Olympus OMD M-1 Mark II?
    Asked by: Richard
Maybe we need to read the question more carefully!? The question is, will it fit the EM-1 mark II, NOT the EM-10 mark II. Being the EM-1 mark II is 1mm taller, I guess it will fit, just a hair short of full coverage... RIGHT??

    question

Hi I am wondering does this effect the operation of the touch screen does it still perform the same as if the protector was not on it? Thanks.
    Asked by: Chad M.
The protector has not interfered with the use of the touch screen and is of good quality.

    question

Does it fit the new Olympus e-m5 II?
    Asked by: Richard L.
Yes it fits. (I just put it on).But you will have difficulty swivelling the screen into the 'closed' position. The protector is a little too thick and prevents the screen from 'latching' in the closed position. It may latch, but I didn't force it far enough to try it.

    question

will this fit on Olympus tough tg4?
    Asked by: Robyn B.
No, that is not compatible. And because it can go down to about 50 under the water most if they do fit will not stay on.
