Key Features
- Leica M Lens to Sony E Camera
- Shortens Minimum Focus Distance of Lens
- Integrated 4mm Helicoid
- Infinity Lock Switch
Mount your Leica M-mount rangefinder lenses on a Sony E-mount mirrorless camera with the VM-E Close Focus Adapter from Voigtlander. In addition to being an all-metal, manual lens adapter, the VM-E also has a unique design to shorten the minimum focusing distance of the attached lens. An integrated helicoid, with 4mm of travel, enables focusing closer with rangefinder lenses, which inherently have a relatively long minimum focusing distance. This adapter also features an infinity lock switch that limits the helicoid's movement and maintains the original focusing range of the lens.

question
Does this adapter have an optical element inside?
No. It allows for some minor movement of the attached lens away from the body. While it isn't a macro adapter, if you're familiar with using a bellows for macro photography you'll understand the principle.

question
Is this just for close up photography or can you use this also for general, will the lens go to inf.?
The Voigtlander VM-E Close Focus Adapter for VM-Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Cameras can be used for general photography as well as close up photography. This adapter will shorten the minimum focusing distance of the lens, and will also allow focus to infinity.

question
if compare this VM-E adapter with Metabones adapter which one is best for Sony A7rII. (I am not sure that Metabones has same close focus feature or not?)
I purchased the Voigtlander adapter and like it very much. It seems well built and is easy to use, once you sort out the instructions!

question
Does this adapter allow you adjust the position of the infinity lock so that your lenses infinity stops are accurate when the adapter is locked?
Yes, you can unlock the infinity lock and move it to where you need it. The only thing I've noticed is you can't relook it in a different position so even though it's difficult to move it might not be guaranteed. The only way you can relock it is if you place it in the original position. If it helps, I've had the 40mm Voigtlander for over a week and it is my new go-to lens/adapter. Cheers!

question
How close can it focus?
The answer is lens-specific. In general, it cuts down the minimum focusing distance by about 45-50%. So you can take tighter head shots for portraits with one of the 50mm M lenses, for instance. The background rendering from some of the bokeh lenses like a 50 Noctilux or Summilux gets even softer with reduced camera-to-subject distance.

question
Does ir work with the Leica 35mm, the Leica 50mm, Leica 28mm Summicron M for a Sony a7rii? Thanks!
This will adapt any Leica M-mount lens to any Sony E-mount camera. I use it with a Leica 35mm and 90mm on a Sony NEX-7. It should do fine for the lenses and body you listed.Note that this adaptor is quite heavy due to the close-focus mechanism - if you don't need this, Novoflex makes an excellent adaptor that is quite a bit more compact and offers the same functionality minus the close-focus capability.

question
I plan to use this adapter to achieve near to far sharp focus throughout the entire scene. When the close-up feature is activated, will it allow the lens to be focused at infinity?
no, it cannot.
