Sony KDL-40W600B Overview

  • 1Description

The Sony W600B 40" Full HD Smart LED TV is designed to deliver a dynamic viewing experience. This 1080p television has a 40" LED display, and incorporates Sony Motionflow XR 240 technology, which reduces distortion on fast-moving images like video games and televised sporting events. This model can access Sony's Entertainment Network, and has built-in Wi-Fi for wireless music and movie streaming. An Ethernet port is also onboard for wired Internet connections. Integrated Wi-Fi direct technology allows you to wirelessly share content with other Wi-Fi direct-enabled devices such as smartphones and tablets.

With one component video and four HDMI inputs, there are multiple options for connecting high-definition video sources. This TV supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) and MHL mobile device connections over HDMI. The component video input also acts as a hybrid port, which allows you to connect an additional composite video source. Dual USB ports are also onboard for connecting multimedia peripherals like flash drives. This TV has dual 8W speakers built-in but you do have the option of using the TV's audio output ports for connecting to a larger speaker system.

Sony X-Reality PRO Picture Engine
Sony's X-Reality PRO picture engine is designed to clean and refine images. This feature optimizes colors and contrast, and is engineered to bring lower resolution content to near HD quality.
Motionflow XR 240 Technology
Motionflow XR 240 takes motion clarity beyond refresh rates. This technology is designed to smooth out the image and minimize distortion on fast-moving content to produce clearer and natural movement.
With a simple selection, fine-tune your TV sound to create an enveloping audio experience. ClearAudio+ is designed to let you hear detailed music, dialogue and sound effects with greater clarity and separation.
Built-in Wi-Fi and Streaming
Wirelessly stream HD entertainment straight from the Internet or your home network using built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Once connected, you can access the Sony Entertainment Network, where a vast library of movies, TV shows, online videos, games and music are available. Access Full 1080p HD entertainment, 3D content and made-for-TV apps like Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, Facebook and more.
Photo Sharing Fun
Using your TV, a compatible Android or iOS device and your home wireless network, you can pass and share photos from your phone to the TV for everyone to see. Up to 10 people can then transfer the photo from the TV to their phones, tablets or other device, and share their own photos for a networked experience.
Dynamic Edge LED Backlighting
Dynamic Edge LED Backlighting uses local dimming, which delivers pitch-black night scenes and illuminates bright scenes. Rather than illuminating the entire screen, contrast is boosted in just the right areas to produce a life-like picture.
One-Flick Entertainment
Flick through TV channels, recommended videos, photos on your network, or even Internet content like YouTube, Crackle, or VideoUnlimited using the optional One-Flick remote control with touchpad. You can even find your favorite content instantly with quick TV start-up and app launch.

    Sony KDL-40W600B Reviews

W600B 40- Full HD Smart LED TV is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from More TV than I ever imagined! This flat screen TV replaced a 32 Sony that went to the basement to be used as a monitor and TV for my roommates computer. After plugging this in, I realized the instruction manual was embedded in the on-screen programming. There are so many adjustments one could make on this model than I ever have seen! All is good though and this TV fits the bill nicely and for the price you can't go wrong! This is a very light TV - just about 25 lbs or so. It was very easy to set up and enjoy! The color is outstanding - as is on every Sony TV. We are a Sony family, and all of our flat screen TV's are Sony. This makes flat screen number 9 for us. We also have this hooked up to our Wi-Fi and it set itself up for time, date, etc. A great TV!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Experience with B&H I am a online shopping freak..and I always look for good offers on different online sites. I came though B&H site and I found it very impressive in terms of offers and user friendly site. I downloaded it on IPAD and B&H impressed me again with its HD quality and quick response! Now it was the real test for B&H for my delivery product. And guess what it was on right time with right product. So thanks B&H for such a lovely shopping experience and I recommended it to all my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony the 1 and only! Excellent LED Smart TV! You can never go wrong with Sony! I was looking for an inexpensive but good quality 40 TV. I bought this TV from B&H Photo. I always shop around before I make a purchase, but it seems that B&H Photo always has the lowest prices. Ordered on a Sunday afternoon, got free expedited shipping and received the TV on Tuesday afternoon. Easy to set up and has a great picture!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from New TV We replaced our 15 year old 720P SONY TV with this new SONY. Everything set up easily except the TOUSLING for our ZVOX sound barnot the sound bar or the Link's fault. We finally figured that out, but now have trouble with the DVD player getting to the sound bar. The problem is somewhere in the settings. The TV looks good. We will eventually get the sound system working properly. There should be something right up front about registering this TV with Sony in case of some product glitch. We have looked & looked through the literature and have found nothing. I'm sure we can register this by connecting with SONY but this is strange. Perhaps someone forgot to put the papers in the box?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful TV I recently purchased the KDL-40W600B TV and BDP-S3200 Blu-Ray player. I'm very happy with both and give them both five stars. The TV assembles very easily, with a bent metal stand that is simple and not wobbly. The feature set is very impressive for both devices. The remote for each device has buttons that control the essential features of the other device. Immediately after turning the system on and logging both devices onto my home Wi-Fi, both devices looked for updates and installed them. TV picture quality is wonderful. I was surprised by a few things, however. One surprise: Judging by the specs for the two devices, the streaming capabilities seemed to be identical. I assumed that they would have very similar user interfaces for the streaming features, maybe to the point of being a little redundant. But in fact, the interfaces for the streaming features are very different. One big difference is that Amazon Prime works on the BDP-S3200 Blu-Ray player, but not on the KDL-40W600B TV. I assume that at some point SONY will issue an update that activates the Amazon Prime app on the TV. But for now, I'm very glad that I have the Blu-Ray player to access Amazon Prime. Another big difference in the interfaces for the two devices is in the way that they access the media files on my networked home computer. The Blu-Ray player displays the folder tree structure, making it easy to navigatge to the files that I want. The TV displays the folders in a big matrix, making it very difficult to find folders. But that difference is moot, really. The truth is that neither device is very handy for browsing the media files on my home computer, and the truth is that it doesn't matter. The reason it does not matter is that it is extremely easy to browse the media files using a computer, and then just play the media to the TV. That is, I commonly use Windows Media player on a laptop in my kitchen to browse through my music collection that is stored on a computer in my office. The browsing is very fast. When I find the album that I want to play, I just tell Windows Media Player to play it to the SONY TV. The TV turns on automatically, and the sound comes out through the nice self-powered Boston Acoustics speaker system that I have attached to the TV. Another surprise: There is a significant difference in ergonomics of the remotes. The remote for the blu-ray player has four large arrow buttons around a center select button. It is very easy to use those arrow buttons, even in the dark. The remote for the TV is a little annoying because the four arrow buttons are not so large, and they are surrounded by an outer ring of buttons that have other functions related to the smart features. Sitting in the dark with my big thumbs, it is easy to press one of the outer buttons when I meant to press an arrow key. This sends the TV off to someplace that I didn't want to go, which is a nuisance. FAIL. But regardless of the little gripes that I have about some details of the streaming features or the remotes, the big conclusion is that I really love both these devices and would highly recommend them both. I look forward to adding a SONY home theater receiver to my system in coming months, so that I can use my larger Hi-Fi speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy for The Cost from B&H This is not a XBR or K4 but for $ it is a tremendous deal. Has a great picture, color and cine motion. Easily set up, and many easy setup functions. definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good TV Pretty happy with the unit. The first thing I did was to adjust the picture manually which improved it greatly (I think all TVs need adjustment out of the factory). The audio is my primary concern about this TV. Is is very tinny and lacks any bass. Even after adjustments the units built in sound system is marginal.

I cannot find SEN activation code off the TV to insert it to my SEN account to add the HDTV to my account. Where can I get that activation code.
    Asked by: Anonymous
The activation code was inside the Activate Enhanced Feature Please check the link below for further assistance. https://<a href=,62766,93314,93967/c/65,66/kw/activat... target= _blank >,62766,93314,93967/c/65,66/kw/activat...</a>On the SEN website under account management there is a large square with a + symbol in the device section where your current devices are listed to add a device. The following are common reasons why the Activate Enhanced Features icon will not appear in the menu: The device has to be connected to an active high-speed Internet connection before the Activate Enhanced Feature icon will appear in the menu. Certain models need to have the latest system software update downloaded and installed for the option to appear on the menu. NOTE: Once the device is connected to the Internet, updates can be downloaded from the Setup menu. If the Activate Enhanced Feature icon is lost during an Internet outage, select the Refresh Internet option from the menu. For some models, the Activate Enhanced Feature will not appear until the User Agreement is accepted after selecting the Internet Video option under the Network section of the menu.Troubleshooting and additional information:Click on the appropriate link below for steps on how to locate the registration code when registering your device on the Sony Essentials website and for additional information based on the issue you are experiencing.https://<a href=,62766,93314,93967/c/65,66/kw/activate%20enhanced%20feature target= _blank >,62766,93314,93967/c/65,66/kw/activate%20enhanced%20feature</a>
