The 4 x 1 3G-SDI Switcher from KanexPro supports SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI signals, as well as resolutions up to 1080p at 60 Hz. It is designed for CCTV surveillance and video production applications where up to four video sources, such as cameras, need to be connected to a display or recording device that only has one input. The switcher can be operated using a front-panel button, or remotely using a third-party RS-232 control system. The switcher supports cascading, so that multiple switchers can be combined to increase the effective number of inputs. In addition, the SDI signals are reclocked and equalized to help rebuild weak signals caused by attenuation following long cable runs.

KanexPro SW-SDI4X1 Overview

The 4 x 1 3G-SDI Switcher from KanexPro supports SD-SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI signals, as well as resolutions up to 1080p at 60 Hz. It is designed for CCTV surveillance and video production applications where up to four video sources, such as cameras, need to be connected to a display or recording device that only has one input. The switcher can be operated using a front-panel button, or remotely using a third-party RS-232 control system. The switcher supports cascading, so that multiple switchers can be combined to increase the effective number of inputs. In addition, the SDI signals are reclocked and equalized to help rebuild weak signals caused by attenuation following long cable runs.

Will this handle audio on the SDI signal as well?

Will the switcher inputs accept a composite video signal?

I'm afraid not. This is an SDI switcher and will not accept a composite signal. You want to look at B&amp;H #KR4X1VB instead, which is a 4x1 Composite Switcher from Kramer.

To whom may concern :Would this item work in a video production. I need to switch between 3 cameras (dslr)?Not for live broadcasting just for videos or short film.

This is not a production switcher, just a way to manage multiple inputs going to a single destination. Can you use this anyway, yes, but you'll probably get a glitch each time you switch sources. If it's just to see different cameras on a monitor it'd be fine.

Any idea the protocol for the RS control port ?

The RS232 port connects to the PC serial port and allows DOS or Hyper terminal control of selecting input port numbers versus using the switch on the front of the unit. Hope that helps!
