The SDE-4AV-QAM MPEG-2 SD Encoder from Blonder Tongue accepts up to four standard-definition analog sources (NTSC only) and encodes them in MPEG-2. Once encoded, the four sources are then multiplexed into a single Multi-Program Transport Stream (MPTS). The output stream is available in one QAM channel, one ASI channel, and one Gigabit Ethernet channel simultaneously.
An optional high definition software upgrade makes it possible for the encoder to convert HD programs as well as SD programs. There is an HDMI, a component, and a VGA input that can be used for sourcing HD programs. Note the HDMI input does not support HDCP-encrypted video.
In addition to video, the encoder supports Dolby Digital audio encoding, and Closed Captioning (EIA-608). It is also equipped with an Emergency Alert System (EAS) interface. A front-panel RF test point allows for monitoring or testing of the QAM output without service interruption. Comprehensive remote monitoring and control is accomplished using any standard Web browser when the unit is connected to a network via the rear panel Ethernet port.
