Key Features
  • For Home Recording and Mixing
  • 40mm Neodymium Dynamic Drivers
  • 15 Hz to 20 kHz Frequency Response
  • Tuned for Enhanced Bass Response
Bringing the acclaimed features of the M-Series headphones to a price point that's accessible for all, the black Audio-Technica ATH-M20x monitor headphones offer solid build quality and audio performance for musicians and content creators recording and mixing at home. Outfitted with 40mm dynamic drivers and an over-ear, closed-back design, the ATH-M20x headphones deliver enhanced bass response and wide bandwidth (15 Hz to 20 kHz) while isolating you from outside sounds.

Thanks to the 15° swiveling earcups, high-quality materials, and generous cushioning on the headband and earpads, the headphones are both durable and comfortable to wear. Exiting from the left earcup, the attached 9.8' cable reduces tangles and simplifies channel identification. The cable sports a 3.5mm mini plug for use with mobile devices and computer soundcards, and a 1/4" snap-on adapter is included for easy hookup to audio interfaces, mixers, and stereo receivers.

Aside from price - what is the relative difference between the m20s and m40s in terms of sound and comfort ?
Asked by: Steve
The ATH-M20X have a frequency response range of 15 Hz to 20 kHz and are tuned for enhanced bass response. The earcups swivel 15 degrees and the headphone cable is permanently attached. The ATH-M40X have a frequency response range of 15 Hz to 24 kHz and are tuned for a flat response for accuracy while monitoring audio. The earcups swivel 90 degrees and the headphone cable is detachable. Two cables are included with the ATH-M40X - one is coiled and one is straight. Both the ATH-M20X and ATH-M40X have a comfortable padded headband and earcups.

I'm looking for headphones that bring out the mids more than highs and lows. Which model is best for mids : 20s, 30s, 40s or 50s ?
Asked by: Steve
The ATH-M30x would be the best option since they are tuned for enhanced midrange. The ATH-M20x are tuned for enhanced bass and the ATH-M40x provide a flat frequency response for accuracy while monitoring audio. The ATH-M50x are tuned for a flat response with clear, deep bass.

How do you connect ATH M20X to Macbook AIr? Or are there beter under $50 wired headphones for Mac?
Asked by: Matthew
The ATH-M20X have a standard 3.5mm plug (and come with an accessory 1/4" adapter, if you need it), so you can plug them directly into the audio jack of your Macbook Air. These are great monitoring headphones in this price range — there are probably other good options for a similar price, but I don't think you'll be disappointed with these.
