    Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Nikon D7100 / D7200 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Addition Just purchased. Used for a D7100 and a MeFoto tripod. Provides a solid connection even when camera is in portrait mode. Exact fit for the camera. A little pricey but, based on the price of a MeFoto plate, well worth it. I rated it 5 since I feel camera security is the most importance feature. The screw can fall out of the plate when stored, NOT WHEN ATTACHED. Per Acratech, this is designed to insure the screw is not weaken by cutting a grove to allow the screw to remain in the slot. Looking at the design and after attaching to the camera, makes total sense. Uses a hex wrench to attach. May be a drawback to some but I have a slew of this size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I recommend this plate for anyone with a D7100/D7200 The plate fits the camera perfectly. You can tell how well they fit together just by putting the camera and the plate together in your hands. A quality piece, well made. I found that with the standard flat plate that the camera twisted around on the plate as I tried to adjust the ball head. I found this annoying as I was constantly readjusting the camera on the plate. This Acra-Tech plate has fixed that problem and the camera no longer moves on the plate. Someone said it was pricey, perhaps it is. But I have found it to be worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthwhile addition Designed to prevent slippage and unexpected torquing (twisting) of the camera when mounted on a tripod. It works. The universal plates that come with tripods typically move, regardless how tighly they seem to be attached to the camera. When properly mounted and securely tightened to the base of the camera, it stays in place regardless how many times the camera is repositioned or placed on and off the tripod head. Not cheap for what's it is but does the job as advertised. A worthwhile investment in the long run.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey, but it works A custom plate like this is the only thing that's really going to keep your camera in position when rotated into vertical format (portrait instead of landscape orientation). Most generic plates will let you camera slip to point downward. This plate is very well made and fits its intended camera (the Nikon D7100) perfectly. That being said, I feel that, even though it is a custom item made specifically for one model camera, it seems a bit pricey to me. It's not anything fantastically complicated, and a price of perhaps $ less would seem more reasonable.I also have to complain, as others have, about there not being any way to hold the tripod mounting screw in place so that it can't get lost. Other Arca type mounting plates have some way of retaining the screw. The instruction sheet that comes with this plate says that making the screw captive would weaken it. I've never had that problem with other plates, and it seems like the designers of this one just aren't being creative enough in coming up with a solution. It's also inconvenient that the tripod screw supplied with this plate requires a hex wrench (included) in order for you to tighten it. Why didn't they make the head slotted so you could use a coin to tighten it, or include a fold-out key so you could hand tighten it? Using the hex wrench I get worried about over-tightening the screw and doing damage to the base plate of the camera (the D7100 base plate is polycarbonate, not metal). A slotted screw or one with a key would be harder to over tighten. If the screw situation were fixed and the price were a little lower I would consider giving this item five stars instead of four.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple, but awesome! Solid little piece of gear... my old plate would tend to unscrew occasionally when I was repositioning my camera on the tripod... the "lip" on this one prohibits rotation - no more aggravation! :-)
