    Sirui SUET1204 reviews

ET-1204 Carbon Fiber Tripod with E-10 Ball Head is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, light and portable I had this tripod for over a year. Finally took it to a demanding trip. One week of winter photography in Iceland. Cold weather, wind and iced ground supporting a Canon 5DIII with a 24 70 2.8 II, a 16 35 f4 or a 70 200 2.8 II. Impeccable performance. Very easy to set up and solid. Shooting HDR and long exposures most of the time, these qualities are a must. Side by side with other heavier and more expensive tripods no difference in image quality and much quicker set up. The lever locks are excellent. Really enjoyed working with this tripod. Made things a lot easier in harsh conditions

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact and lightweight You can't beat this tripod for being compact and lightweight while still being plenty sturdy for a DSLR shooting stills or video. My only quibble is that there is no arm to use when you want to pan the camera. The head is a little smaller than I expected, but still very fluid and fine for my DSLR. I guess I am used to shooting with much heavier TV gear, and I bought this because I wanted something that has specs like this one has. I can pan using a light touch on the head, but an arm would have been very nice to have. Working to see if I can retrofit something. I just want the option that won't give me any camera jiggle, of course.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Tripod Very solid and stable tripod. I purchased this tripod primarily for hiking and travel. I love the quality, fit and finish. Most small carbon fiber tripods have the twist locks, not this baby, big strong beefy lever locks which are my personal preference. Very fast setup and take down. I have tried my heaviest camera lens combo (Canon 5D3 with Tamron 150-600mm) and was very pleased. I didn't notice any head settling or vibrations. The included short center column is a nice touch, most manufacturers charge extra for it. The included bag is nicely paded and sized perfectly. Yes, this tripod is a little pricey, but compared to others in its class, the Sirui is a great deal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fell Apart I bought this tripod based on glowing reviews from several sources and primarily because it was lightweight and could be packed in a suitcase. I was taking a Workshop with a professional photographer at various locations in Michigan and using my Canon Mark5D II with a 100-400 mm Is lens (total weight less than 8 lbs). At our first location it wouldn't hold steady and kept slipping and I was using a 2 second timer. But what happened next was astonishing. We were moving to our 2nd location, a short walk away from the 1st and when I went to set up the tripod the bottom lever to hold the leg in place was missing! It must have fallen off before we moved to the 2nd location so I went back to look for it but we were in a forest with the fallen autumn leaves and I couldn't find it. So there I was with a tripod that could only have the 2 legs extended which meant I wasn't able to stand to take photographs. I was so disappointed especially after the wonderful reviews I had read. Needless to say I took it back to B & H for a full refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best travel tripod, by far I bought this as a second, smaller, lighter alternative to my main tripod, and it has performed flawlessly. I use this primarily with my travel camera: Canon SL1 with Sigma 17-70 and Canon 70-300. But I've also used it with my main camera: Canon 6D with 24-105 and the same Canon 70-300. My main tripod is a Manfrotto 190CXpro3 with Markins Q3 head. Relative to that setup, the Sirui is 54% cheaper and 42% lighter. The main features I like in the Sirui (same as in the Manfrotto-Markins) are: carbon (light, strong, not as cold in winter); flip legs (easier, faster, more secure than twist knobs--I know that's a minority opinion); ball head has 2 knobs, not 3 (Markins has hidden tension knob, Sirui has no tension adjustment, but I don't miss it, and 3 knobs get in the way); pan head and bubble level (which I use with nodal slide rail for panoramas). While the Sirui feels light and the leg locks at first feel flimsy (they're designed that way: loose when they're unlocked, tight when they're locked), the tripod is rock solid, head is superb, fit and finish are excellent. Easy to carry for long periods--I use the Optech strap, not the carrying bag. Fits in a suitcase. Images show zero shake at pixel-peeping closeness, and I've used it for long night exposures. The center column can be replaced with a short, fixed column for an even lighter package, at the expense of some height. I tried it once but prefer the center column. When shopping for a travel tripod, I went into B&H's main store and tried every light tripod they had. Main competitor was a Gitzo Traveller 1. Besides being waaaay more expensive (but I'll pay for quality for items that I'll use a long time), it was heavier, used twist knobs, and didn't seem any more secure. I wanted to like the Manfrotto BeFree, but it wasn't nearly as solid. I'm not quite ready to replace my Manfrotto-Markins rig, but it's close. I haven't used the Sirui in high-wind conditions, where it's light weight might set it back (but I don't know that). Don't let the unknown brand set you off. It's quality stuff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for travel Great for travel or the lighter weight mirrorless cameras and lenses. Light weight but strong. It weighs a bit more than stated on site. Weighed in at 3 lbs with ball-head. I use it with Sony mirrorless and 18-200 lens. Ball-head is smooth and holds firm no matter what position. I have had 2 other travel tripods and this is the best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, compact but sturdy First tripod received with one broken latch. B&H did their usual exchange, easy and quick. Needed a light weight, compact but sturdy tripod for international travel. Lens I use is 7.5 lbs. so I needed something that could handle the weight. This fits the bill and is easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If only everything was so nicely made!! I just recently started learning how to use my camera. Thus I relied on my photography teacher who recommended that I purchase this tripod for an upcoming trip. Its amazingly well made. Its easy to set up and take down and extremely flexible. The tripod is light to carry, comes with very explicit instructions and includes a well made travel case. Frankly, its exciting to see something this well made and worth the money I paid.
