Manfrotto MP3-BK overview

  • 1Description

The black Large POCKET Tripod from Manfrotto is made for cameras up to 3.3 lb. With a maximum height of 1.6", this pocket tripod can be used for taking photos with a long exposure, or when using a self-timer. Its legs are independently adjustable, so you can level your camera on uneven surfaces.

The 1/4"-20 mounting screw slides along the length of the tripod, so your camera can be balanced on the base. Weighing only 2.5 oz, the lightweight tripod is made with an all-metal construction for durability. Non-slip rubber feet help keep the tripod from sliding on smooth surfaces.

    Manfrotto MP3-BK reviews

Large POCKET Tripod (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from For lightweight cameras ONLY! This little mini-tripod solution is pretty good actually, but it only works with very small DSLRs or similar size Mirrorless cameras like the Samsung NX-1, and ONLY with small and lightweight lenses! After mounting the camera, the legs can be set to provide a bit of angled point of view. BUT (!!!), since there is NO locking mechanism of any kind for the legs, they WILL collapse forward under heavier camera/lens combination, however, work very nicely for small size P&S and Mirrorless bodies with standard or small lenses. So, though not perfect, but I still kind o' like it. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprise! This thing is so great! I always surprise my friends with low lights/long exposures when they know I didn't bring a tripod. But if you can find a ledge or trash can, this POCKET Tripod performs just as well as a tripod. Usually I am balancing this on less than ideal things, so I is best to adjust the legs for framing and then hold the camera as still as I can. By operating it like that, heavier cameras/lenses can be used. Be careful if you set it up and try to stand back as if it were a normal tripod. If you need stabilization where tripods are prohibited or simply never want to be without one, throw this incredibly solid piece of gear in your bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love! I was in the store looking for a small tripod to carry around in my bag but didn't want to add a bunch of weight to my bag. I happened to find this little tripod that works great. I even throw it in my purse for casual nights where I know I'll need to put my camera down to take a timed shot. This isn't very tall, but it is very stable and sturdy. You can put it in your pocket and walk around all day or leave it folded attached to the bottom of your camera w/o adding extra bulk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Large Enough The specs do not provide the overall dimensions of this tiny tripod. It's much smaller than other reviews imply. While it will hold the weight of a DSLR, it will not support a DSLR with a lens of any length, and certainly not a zoom extended. The lens shifts the center of gravity forward and tips the tripod. It's a very clever device, but too small for a DSLR IMHO. I believe Manfrotto could make an XL model that would still fit in a pocket, but would have enough leg extension to support a DSLR / zoom lens combo.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not very large Brilliant idea, but read the weight limits carefully. Best for a medium to small SLR, with a pancake or small prime lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of gear....for the right size camera If your camera is small and light enough, this thing is awesome. Perfectly fills the role of an "everyday carry" tripod since you can just leave it on your camera 24/7. One thing to note is that the description is a bit misleading. The tripod's ability to support a camera is not just a factor of weight limit, but how well the center of balance is on your camera too. If you have a large or heavy lens mounted on your camera, the legs on this tripod won't have enough spread to properly balance it, and the camera will tip forward. Case in point: Tripod works great on a Sony DSC-RX10-II, but not the DSC-RX10-IV because of how much larger the lens is, even though the cameras are of similar size and under the weight limit of this tripod. Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Dig It This thing is great. Fits in my backpack easy for camping/hiking and is super light. I actually have been leaving it on the camera as it's not really even in the way for hand holding the camera. It is a little too small for a dslr but for my mirror-less and backcountry it is perfect!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 stars for being so deceptive - Hold a DSLR? No Way. Apparently I did not read the reviews or I wouldnt have been so trigger happy on this. I wouldnt try anything but a point and shoot with this thing. Or an action cam or 360 cam. I can see putting this to use on my 360 cam especially on uneven surfaces, so Ill give it that much. Nice travel accessory tripod for a phone as well, as long as you have the tripod adapter to attach to it. Low rating is for the advertising  pics with a DSLR and the descriptive word LARGE in the product title.
