The Gitzo GC3101 Padded Tripod Bag is designed for Series 2 and 3 Mountaineer tripods but will also hold tripod/head combinations up to 28" with folded legs. The rip-stop nylon material protects your tripod from abrasions and incidental contact. The bag features a cylindrical design and is accessed via two full-length zippers. Portability is via two interlocking touch-fastened top-carry handles that are stitched to the exterior and encircle the bag for extra durability and strength. The bag also features a removable shoulder strap.

The padding is good, but increases the bulkiness. The zippers are very nice. I am not a fan of the metal hooks and straps, I worry about scratching my other gear. It fits my tripod and the ballhead perfectly. I gave it 4 stars because of being overpriced and a bit bulky. Otherwise it is fine.

This bag is great. It's high quality as expected from Gitzo, and it fits my large tripod setup perfectly. I have the Gitzo GT5543LS Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripod (Long) with the Gitzo GS5513S Rapid Center Column and an Arca-Swiss C1 Cube Geared Head on top, which adds several inches of length to an already long tripod. The bag fits this setup like a glove. It offers great protection for my gear and makes it very easy to carry my tripod to and from jobs safely.

There seems to be a difference of opinion here, maybe there have been some variations in the product. I just purchased this bag (4/2020)). and it definitely has one zippered internal pocket sewn to the lining. It will not hold something like a tripod head, but should suffice for a few small items (Allen wrench, alternate tripod feet, maybe a thin camera rain cover, etc.)

No. The unit would only allow the tripod to be packed and the ball head would have to be dismounted from the system.
