Gitzo GC5101 overview

  • 1Description

The Gitzo GC5101 Padded Tripod Bag is used when the Systematic tripod and head combination is longer than 32" GC4101 bag can handle. This bag will also hold tripod/head combinations up to 35" with folded legs. The rip-stop nylon material protects your tripod from abrasions and incidental contact. The bag features an asymmetrical design and is accessed via two full-length zippers. Portability is via two interlocking touch-fastened top-carry handles that are stitched to the exterior and encircle the bag for extra durability and strength. The bag also features a non-removable shoulder strap.

    Gitzo GC5101 reviews

GC5101 Padded Tripod Bag is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Gimbal Heads I purchased this bag to use with my tripod and Wimberly Type II gimbal head. It easily accommodates the Wimberly + tripod combination, has plenty of padding, a nice zippered compartment inside the bag that I use for tools and plates and has a convenient shoulder strap. Not the cheapest bag out there but it does the job perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for heavy duty tripod with head attached. Holds my Gitzo G1548 Mk II Tripod with Wimberley Gimbal Head attached. Nicely padded and heavy construction. Great when I want to throw the rig in the trunk or carry short distances in the field.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits GT5543XLS with Head Attached Well-made and designed tripod bag which fits my GT5543XLS with a 405 gear head attached. It also fits the GT5543XLS with GS5513XLS attached without a tripod head on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This superb bag is for photographers who use a Gitzo Systematic Series 5 tripod with a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal head attached. It fits inside so perfectly it must be made for this exact purpose. The Wimberley head requires a large rock-steady tripod. The Gitzo Systematic line is the standard by which all professional carbon fiber tripods are measured. Money well spent. Bravo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bag for series 5 This is a perfect bag for a Gitzo series 5 tripod with a head attached. I am using it for my series 5 XL with an Arca Swiss B1 head and it’s the ideal size. If you are using a larger head, take some measurements before buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A really good bag This Gitzo GC5101 tripod bag is solidly built and very functional. I had some doubt about its size when I ordered it. But it fits as if it were tailored for my need. B&H's advice by email was very helpful in figuring out whether the arrangement I'm about to describe would likely work. I wanted to carry a Gitzo GT5543LS Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Tripod (Long) fitted with a Really Right Stuff (RSS) B2-LLR-II Lever-Release Clamp (80mm), mounted and left in place on the tripod platform, AND a Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal (fitted with an RSS TH-DVTL-40 Round Dovetail Plate) also left in place atop the RSS clamp. The idea behind this was that clamp would enable a quick switch between the WH-200 and the RSS BH-55 Ball Head (fitted with an RSS TH-DVTL-55 Dovetail Plate). It works like a charm, and the Gitzo GC5101 enables this stacked arrangement to be carried without fear of damage to the WH-200. Without the Gitzo bag's capacity, carrying this array would not have been convenient. Mind you, there is not a lot of room to spare -- in terms of bag length -- with this combination; BUT it is not what anyone would call a snug fit, nothing that puts any stress on the Gitzo bag zipper. (And, of course, there is ample room to spare in the bag, if just the RSS BH-55, rather than the WH-200, is left in place on the RSS clamp.) It worked out well; and I'm glad I gave it a try.
