LEE Filters Polyester ND Filter Overview

Lee Neutral Density gels are available in small increments and have many uses. They offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance. They have four main uses: 1) To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars. 2) To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background. 3) To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations. 4) To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure.

Lee resin filters are made from lightweight, optical polymeric materials and are available in 3 x 3" (75 x 75mm) and 4 x 4" (100 x 100mm).

These filters are available in increments from 1/3 stop to 3 stops exposure reduction.

Neutral Density factors:

ND .10 (exposure adjustment = 1/3 stop)

ND .20 (exposure adjustment = 2/3 stop)

ND .30 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop)

ND .40 (exposure adjustment = 1 1/3 stops)

ND .50 (exposure adjustment = 1 2/3 stops)

ND .60 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops)

ND .70 (exposure adjustment = 2 1/3 stops)

ND .80 (exposure adjustment = 2 2/3stops)

ND .90 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops)

LEE Filters Polyester ND Filter Reviews

Polyester= Flexible tinted plastic film

I should have read others reviews because now I see what they meant. This filter, I would just call it a film, is flexible and would work best in the frame that I guess is available for $ extra. If you think you are ordering a rigid plastic filter then be warned and steer clear.

Cheap 4x4, Annoyed.

Annoyed that it needs a special little holder which should of been included as its only a buck or so and the filter cannot be used without it. So now i gotta buy a pack of what 4 or 10 of these even though i only really need one which should of been included ? Annoyed. Other then that, i did get the filter working and its okay not much to be said at this price-point.
