Kenko K-HANDSTRAP-ORG Overview

The orange DSLR Hand Strap from Kenko is designed to help photographers hold their DSLR more securely and comfortably in order to take better photos.

The Hand Strap attaches to the camera with a plate that screws into the cameras tripod socket. This plate has a tripod socket of its own so that the camera can still be mounted to a tripod if desired. The strap then loops through the camera's right-hand neck strap eyelet to attach securely to the camera. The pad on the Hand Strap is designed for comfort and maximum movement of the fingers for full access to the camera controls.

The Kenko Hand Strap also has an additional metal eyelet so that a neck strap can still be attached to the camera at the same time, if desired.

Easy to install; quality construction; fit nicely with vertical grip too.

Wish I had purchased this sooner...

I have been hating my neck strap for some time now. It irritated my neck and it got in the way when taking my camera in/out of my bag. I've been using this hand strap every day for a little over a week now and I'm liking it a lot. It's so much easier to quickly grab and pull my camera out of my bag now. The camera feels very secure on my hand and, surprisingly, my hand seems to feel less fatigued after using it all day (as compared to holding the camera when I used my neck strap). I have a medium sized hand (female) and I can still get at the controls on my Nikon without having to remove my hand from the strap. It doesn't irritate the back of my hand which had me concerned (although I have not used it for an extended time period in hot, summertime temps). Having a tripod mount incorporated into the bottom plate is great. It wasn't hard to install - it just took a minute or two to get it adjusted to the tightness that felt most comfortable and secure on my hand.

OK but not great

The idea was to take weight of the camera and lens off the fingers of the right hand when just walking and shooting without my usual shoulder strap. The Kenko handstrap does that. It puts the weight on the back of the hand when the camera is down and is quite comfortable and stable. But, the strap interferes with reaching the buttons and dials on a DSLR in the shooting position. Too tight and it prevents reaching most buttons intended for the right hand, too loose and it no longer feels secure. I don't think this is the fault of Kenko's design. I suspect it is simply a fact of life for handstraps. It is usable but annoying. There is no perfect camera strap just as there is no perfect camera bag.

A must-have

I have one on all my bodies. I usually don't use a camera strap, just a hand strap like this. There are quite a few on the market. I've found this one the most usable. When you mount it to the tripod connection on bottom of your camera you don't lose tripod ability, it has its own nut into which you can screw your tripod. Also, it has two places to connect a strap to the bottom, so in my case I manufactured a permanent loop on the unused one to which I can attach my BlackRapid strap when I use it.

Love this Handstrap!

Easy to set up and use. Helps keep the pressure off of the back of your neck. Throw away your neck straps and buy this one. I will never go back to a traditional neck strap after using this one.

I have one of these on every camera body. I like it because it allows you to have a tripod foot on the camera body along with the strap.
