Benro C373FBS8 overview

  • 1Description

The Benro C373F Series 3 CF Video Tripod & S8 Head is a lightweight tripod system featuring carbon fiber tripod legs and a flat base head supporting up to 17.5 lb. A half ball adapter is included for mounting the head on the tripod legs, but the adapter is removable so you can attach the head on sliders and other support gear via the 3/8"-16 thread on the bottom. The legs extend from 14.5 to 64", and the entire system weighs only 10 lb. Opening fully to the minimum height conveniently allows for stable low-angle shooting.

Designed to give you more precise control, the head provides stepless, continuous adjustment of both pan and tilt drag. This allows you to dial in the amount of tension you feel most comfortable with for a given shot. You can pan a full 360° and tilt forward/backward 90/70°. The head also features a four-step adjustable counterbalance that helps compensate for different-sized cameras and adapts to payloads with varying centers of gravity.

The legs have a two-stage, three-section design with three discreet stops for locking at different degrees of spread, and multi-angle flip-lever leg locks which allow each leg to be positioned independently for quick setup and uneven terrain. The legs have rubber feet, but come with stainless-steel spiked feet that can be installed for use on soft surfaces.

Both the head and legs offer a bubble level. The head also provides two 3/8"-16 accessory mounting threads for directly attaching monitor arms and other gear. A pan bar is included, and an optional second one can be attached on the other side.

    Benro C373FBS8 reviews

    C373F Series 3 CF Video Tripod & S8 Head is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than I thought After carting around a 12 kilo miller tripod and 15 kilo camera for 20 years I downsized to a Canon C100 and the Benro. This combo is great. The tripod is way better than I thought it would be for the price. The head is nice and large and all controls are easy to get to and the operation is super smooth. Just as a test I placed my crane on it, 12 kilos, the C100, 3 kilos and 20 kilos of counter balance even though the payload is rated at 7.8 kilos. The benro handled the 35 kilos without a problem. This of course was only a test I would not do this on a daily basis. The tripod arrived in Australia within 5 days. GREAT STUFF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Tripod, Simple Controls I am an indepedent filmmaker. This tripod is exceptional. My only concern about this tripod was the weightiness, but the carbon fiber is extremely light compared to my expectations. I could carry it for long amounts of time before becoming tired. In addition, the carrying case is wonderful. The fluid head is incredibly simple to use. I taught my friend every control in less than 5min. He had never worked with a tripod head before. I haven't used this tripod extensively in the field, so I have no regrets about it yet. From what I can tell, this is an exceptional and simple tripod for a very reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Solid Investment For First Video Tripod This is my first video tripod I've owned myself but I've used many different kinds at different shoots. While it is a bit heavier than what I am used to, it's a really solid build for the money compared to say Manfrotto, and that heft is what makes the shots solid. I mount a cinevate 24 slider with a canon 6D set up, which adds up to around 9 or 10 lbs. So it's nice not having to worry about the tripod ever tipping over. The deluxe carry case is made with a nice material. The tripod does not come with any manual but everything is pretty self-explanatory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carbon Fibre All Day Ever Day Benro's general design philosophy is great, everything seems to be exactly where I need it, and well made with an awesome finish. I believe that this could be the best carbon fiber tripod at this price range. Panning, tilt, everything is smooth with features to control the speed of each which although worried me in the fact that they would be complex and add some unnecessary knobs and such things, are actually perfectly implemented into the design and are hardly noticeable until I need them. Very well done Benro. Will be purchasing from this company in the future. Interested in if they take a venture into very large/heavy rigs with legs and heads to accommodate. Well done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for this price point For the money, this is a solid tripod/head combo. I've successfully used if for a couple of shoots with my Sony FS-700 . The ability to get the head so low to the ground is nice. Also nice is the ability to use the head on a slider. The only issue I can see is that the legs want to come out of their grooved slots and not retract. A simple rotation of the leg gets it back in the groove and the leg retracts as it should, but I'm a little worried about how this will develop over long-term use. Without the leg/groove issues I'd give it five stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A spectacular tripod for the money! AND pretty! You won't go wrong with the S8 and C3573F combo. It is heavy enough to provide excellent stability and light enough not to break your back when you carry it. This is a substantial unit. Its solid metal construction makes it a real workhorse; and with its blue and black color scheme, it's one of the handsomest tripods you'll ever see. The sturdy carrying case helps protect it from getting banged up. I use it for my trusty Sony NX5U video camera. I've had it about a year and it hasn't failed me yet. Really a fine piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid tripod My first outing with this tripod was a travel job. It held up great and the light weight was nice. I bought this to replace the Manfrotto 502. This head is a lot better. The controls for pan and tilt brake are in the correct place. The 3 step counterbalance worked well. I wish the pan had a better stepping mechanism. (spoiled from Sachtler 18). Also with a heavy load (slider) on this the tilt brake wouldn't stay rock steady. Probably too much weight. The ball head is great for leveling. Fits snugly into included case. Manfrotto style plate is great for compatibility between rigs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast of a Tripod - Super Smooth! This tripod set is most directly comparable to the Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 535 CF Tripod System with Carrying Bag, a system which gets great reviews here on B&H especially for the legs. With my intended budget being closer to 500, I was also considering the Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 546B Tripod System. However, I had the opportunity to use the 502A head and I can confidently say that the S8 blows that one away. The S8 has every control you want, and none you don't need. Separate Pan and Tilt drag adjustments and locks, lightup bubble level on the head, and 75mm bowl for easy leveling. Not only does it have the features you want, but it works to perfection. Movement from the head is just so silky smooth, that I couldn't imagine improving that aspect much at all. As for the legs - I figured I was compromising by going with the standard 3-section sticks as opposed to the collapsing video style. Let's just say that these are PLENTY stable and nearly any angle. What's the end summary? This tripod is very stable, very smooth, and very inexpensive. Sounds like a no brainer. HOWEVER - make sure you are prepared to spend some time at the gym if you'll be moving this around a lot. It's bulky, heavy, and difficult to carry outside of the case. I brought it to a wedding this past weekend and mainly kept it on the balcony, while sticking with the monopod most of the time. It's just too much to carry around everywhere. So make sure you know the use case and if you decide that planned, static shots are what you want, this is your obvious choice.
