A selectable Extended Low Frequency (XLF) effect allows you to augment the low-frequency response found in many dance clubs, allowing you use the LSR310S to provide a sonic picture of how your tracks will sound at the club. It also has a selectable input sensitivity and 3 crossover settings including 80 Hz, XLF (120 Hz), and external, allowing the use of an external crossover.

  • JBL Patented Slip Stream Port: This patented JBL port design works in concert with the LSR310S low-frequency driver for deep, dynamic bass response at all playback levels. The double-flared shape of the port is precisely calculated to optimize low-frequency extension.
  • XLF Extended Low Frequency Setting: The XLF setting activates a specially engineered tuning that emulates the ample bass tuning used in today's dance clubs. When producing a dance track, the XLF setting will inspire you and bring a bit of the club to your control from. For inspiration to the max, position the LSR310S in the nearest corner of your room and activate the XLF setting.
  • Custom 10" Down-Firing High Excursion Low Frequency Driver: JBL Transducers are legendary for their performance. The custom-designed driver in the LSR310S exemplifies JBL engineering prowess, delivering deep low frequency response into the 20 Hz region, and 113 dB peak output for long periods at full-rated power with no risk of failure.
  • Professional Balanced Inputs and Outputs: With balanced XLR and 1/4" inputs and XLR outputs, you can add the LSR310S to any studio monitor system to extend its low frequency performance or use it as the 0.1 LFE Channel in a surround-sound system.
  • Selectable Input Sensitivity: The -10 dBV / +4 dBu sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect the LSR310S to high-output professional equipment without any danger of input overload.
  • Three Crossover Settings: The 80 Hz setting is recommended for use with the LSR305, LSR308, or any studio monitors. The External setting allows use of an outboard crossover.
  • Volume Control: Simple and effective, the LSR310S volume control has detents that make it easy to balance the LSR310S in your studio monitor system

JBL LSR310S Reviews

Solid Sub

Unpacked and connected, didn't have to adjust anything. Plugged my studio monitors to the outputs of the sub, then monitoring system out to the sub inputs, hit play and go. Sub has a higher wattage than most, higher price, but I waited until it was on sale. I did consider other active subwoofers, but this one has a larger woofer, and flexible in's and out's, and is tuned to match my JBL 5" studio nearfields. Great item!!

Great with the 305s

It's a big one but paired with the 305s it works nicely. Placement is really important. Happy I waited for it to come on sale.

Good match for JBL monitors

Monitors by itself are good enough for small rooms, but if you have a bigger room, a sub is a must. It fills out the bottom frequencies and nicely rounds up the sound. Perfect for a 2.1 home cinema setup. Best matching seems to be with JBL LSR 305. If you have 308, the bass might become overpowering.

2 Defective Units in a Row

The first one I ordered sounded great for about 3 days. It would not power up on the 4th day. I troubleshooted for a while, then exchanged it for a new unit. The new unit didn't power on even once. I'm very hesitant to exchange it for another. I'm looking into other options.

JBL LSR310S 200W Powered Subwoofer is a winner

I added the JBL LSR310S 200W Powered Subwoofer to my set of JBL 306 mkii powered audio monitors. It completes the range of digital sounds beautifully. Aside from playback of of my own compositions, I often use these three speakers as monitors in lieu of headphones as an audio source when rehearsing (keyboard controller and e-drums). The full range of deep bass to high treble output are very good, giving the listener a real sound even at volumes which far exceed what is necessary when practicing or playing e-instruments in a home studio jam session.

Crisp clear bass

This sub does not disappoint. Paired with a set of JBS’s LSR305 monitors and makes a great setup. Crisp clear and accurate audio when editing. And can jam out to any playlist while working on other projects. Easy setup. Can adjust the sub sensitivity so it doesn’t shake the walls if you don’t want it to.

I bought this subwoofer from B&H on sale for $300 when originally its $500. I did research on it and when I used it, it works exactly as advertised. I am satisfied with this product and the way B&H works. No issue at all and use this subwoofer in all my sessions from recording vocals to making beats.

Pairs Perfectly with Yamaha HS8 Setup

It took me a few minutes to dial in the JBL, but once I figured that out it sounds smooth and complimented my setup perfectly. I'm not sure why anyone in a studio setting would want to use anything but the 80hz crossover. It had PLENTY of power, in fact, it's set to about 40 percent power to balance out with my studio monitors. Folks that say it doesn't have enough power need to turn down the gain of their monitors. The whole idea of a studio sub is not to blow you away (which this can certainly do) but rather to compliment (extend the frequency range of) the monitors. It does this very well. If you don't use this balance, your mixes will not be accurate may result in them being low-frequency deprived. I can easily switch between sub + crossovered monitors to monitors with no crossover with my Mackie 1642VLZ4 mixer. I just use a subgroup output to isolate my monitors without the sub. What makes this possible is that the HS8 monitors have 2 inputs, so your miles may vary. When dialing your sub in, remember that less is more. I've found this to be true in just about every facet of life. Happy Mixing.

question

How do you guys have this paired with your 305's? Is there anyway to use the 305's and the sub with the MONICON controller? Are you using XLR or 1/4 in?
Asked by: Jacob B.
Just get the two xlr out from you audio interface to the 310s and from there to the 305. The 310s already have the crossover.
