Rycote Windshield Kit Overview

The Modular Windshield Kit WS 3 with XLR-5F and Connbox CB4 from Rycote provides you with the accessories needed to prevent or isolate your mic from up to 50dB of wind and handling noise. The WS 3 kit features a modular suspension with pistol grip, a windshield, and a windjammer. Also featured are a boom pole adapter, a CB4 Connbox, and an XLR holder.

The microphone fits on the modular suspension and attaches to the Connbox. The windshield fits on the suspension and is enclosed around the mic. The fuzzy windjammer then fits over the windshield. This completely modular system can be configured to allow almost any microphone to be shock-mounted. Two Duo-Lyre suspension webs, a brush, and a Hex head key are included.

Modular Suspension
It provides complete isolation against handling noise and cable-borne noises. It also supports the microphone in a cradle using Lyre suspension webs.
Windshield
The windshield basket completely surrounds the microphone and its connector. It slides onto the Modular Suspension to provide up to 30dB of wind noise attenuation.
Windjammer
The Windjammer is a synthetic fur cover that is designed to fit over the Modular Windshield. It gives an additional 20dB of wind noise attenuation. It is fitted with a drawstring and a toggle for easily fitting on the mic

Audio-Technica AT 8022 (BP 4025), AT 822, AT 825, BeyerDynamic MCE 72, Edirol CS-50, Neumann RSM 191, Pearl MS 2, Pearl MS 8, Pearl MSH 10 are a few of the microphones that can be used with this windshield kit

Had a MKH416 for about a year plus and only just invested in this. Loved the build of it and all the extra things that came with it. Quality wise it did as advertised.

No. The Rycote Modular Windshield Kit WS 3 includes the Connbox CB4 which is compatible for use with stereo microphones that have a 5-pin XLR connector. The Sennheiser MKH 8060 Short Shotgun Microphone uses a standard 3-pin XLR connector. A similar compatible windshield kit is the Rycote 086067 Modular Windshield WS 1 Kit MZL for the Sennheiser MKH 8060 Microphone (B&H # RYMWS1MZLKIT). You can also use the Rycote 010320 Super-Shield Kit for Shotgun Mics - Small (B&H # RYSSKS) or the RODE Blimp Windshield and Rycote Shock Mount Suspension System for Shotgun Microphones (B&H # ROBLIMPR).

Would this grip and suspension work with the Rycote 21mm BBG as an alternative to the kit included blimp and softie? Would like to use this for it's handling noise features with an AT BP4025 and have the BBG as a smaller footprint option to the blimp.

The grip and suspension found within Rycote Modular Windshield Kit WS 3 with XLR-5F and Connbox CB4 would not work with the Rycote BBG Windshield, as the BBG does not accommodate internal suspensions and is designed for covering the head of the microphone only, as opposed to encapsulating the entire microphone.

This blimp system is made specifically for stereo microphones, so would not be appropriate for a mono shotgun mic.. I would consider the Rode Blimp Windshield and Rycote Shock Mount Suspension System for Shotgun Microphones, BH #ROBLIMPR or the Rycote Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH416 & Other Select Shotgun Microphones, BH# RYWMKH416, which would both accommodate the Sennheiser ME66, with the K6 powering module.

The Rycote 010324 Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH 416 and Select Shotgun Microphones is intended for use with microphones that are approximately 10" long and the Sennheiser MKH 8060 Short Shotgun Microphone is just 7" long. You should be able to use the 010324 Windshield together with the MKH 8060,

No, this kit is for use with the Schoeps MiniCMIT microphone. The Rycote Windshield Kit 2 - Complete Windshield and Suspension System (B&H # RYWSK2) is the kit that fits the CMC641.
