The WS 9 Modular Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH8020, 8040 and 8050 Mic by Rycote offers a unique and highly effective solution for compact condenser microphones. It is used in various environments to reduce wind noise when capturing audio in applications such as film, broadcast TV, wedding videography, sound design, and more. This kit features up to 35 db of wind noise attenuation and includes a WJ9 windjammer, XLR holder MKII, boom pole adapter, pistol grip handle with lever, XX-small suspension, and a CB9 connbox; also included are 2x single lyre 62 (19/25), a brush, and Hex head key.

No. The Rycote WS 9 Modular Windshield Kit is not compatible for use with the Sanken CS-M1 Ultracompact Shotgun Microphone. The WS 9 Windshield is intended for use with microphones that are up to 3.9" long and the CS-M1 is just over that at 4.06" long. As a compatible option, you can use the Rycote Modular Windshield WS 1 Kit MZL (B&H # RYMWS1MZLKIT) which is intended for use with microphones that are 2.8 to 4.7" (71 to 120mm) long.

I would be using this with a single Sennheiser ...
I would be using this with a single Sennheiser 8040 microphone, and was wondering whether the suspension actually uses bands, as shown in the picture, or whether it uses a modern Rycote lyre?
The Rycote WS 9 Modular Windshield Kit for Sennheiser MKH8020, 8040 and 8050 Mic uses the Rycote lyre suspension system to hold the microphone in place.

The windshield kit accommodates small microphones that measure 4.8 to 6.3" (121 to 160mm) in length with a diameter of 0.75 to 0.98" (19 to 25mm). The S-Mic 2S is 5.8" (148mm) long and has a diameter of 0.75" (19mm).
