question
I need to bring XLR audio directly into the Aja IO 4k (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1025891-REG/aja_io_4k_10_bit_4k_uhd_sd_i_o_tb_2.html). Will this do the trick?I'm thinking I connect my condenser mic to a mixer where it gets phantom power, output with XLR cable to this adapter and plug this adapter directly into one of the SDI BNC connections on the IO 4k. Will that work? Thanks!
No, the only audio inputs on that model Aja you refer to look to be embedded SDI or embedded HDMI digital signals. This adapter cable is a physical adapter only. It is not an analog to digital converter of any kind.

How is this adaptor wired? We assume BNC "hot" goes to XLR pin 2, but is XLR pin 3 floating or strapped to XLR pin 1? Can we alter the internal wiring?
According to Neutrik, the NA2FBNC is wired so that XLR pin 2 is hot and pins 1 and 3 are wired to ground. The internal wiring on the adapter is not intended to be reconfigured. For more information about the wiring, please contact Neutrik directly. Their US office is located in Charlotte, NC and you can reach them by phone at 704-972-3050.
