Tempo 701K-G Overview

The 701K-G is a kit comprised of a Greenlee 200EP Tone Probe Amplifier, a 7HP-G High Power Tone Generator, and a rugged nylon carrying case. The amplifier and tone-generator are intended to facilitate the testing and tracing of wire and cables.

The probe, which can operate at levels of 30 dB, features a 3.5mm headset jack for monitoring tone in headphones, and comes with a plastic probe tip to prevent accidental shorts. The accompanying power-tone generator provide the alternating 890/960 Hz signal to trace a given wire, or pair of wires. Both the tone generator and the probe are battery powered, lasting up to 50 hours off of a 9V battery. When the items are not in use, you can store them in the woven nylon carrying case.

Old school telco wire trace device for the win!

This device is excellent for tricky wire situations where you are attempting to find a short or other wiring issue. The reverse lights on my BMW were not working and using this device allowed me to detect the short and then tone out to find where the issue was within a small area saving me hours of painful troubleshooting!
