The NexImage Solar System Eyepiece CCTV Imager from Celestron is an entry-level astro-imaging system that utilizes a color CMOS sensor to capture images of the Moon and planets at 1280x720 resolution with frame rates of up to 30 fps. To use, simply install the camera into any 1.25" focuser in place of an eyepiece. Even though it's designed for astro-imaging, the NexImage performs well in daylight, so it can used for terrestrial imaging as well. It plugs into a USB port on a computer to transfer the images and power the camera.
The camera comes with the iCap and RegiStax software packages. Use the iCap to capture the video with selectable resolutions and frame rates, with adjustable gain and exposure. Once you've captured your images, send them to RegiStax, and it will analyze the images, throw away bad ones, and allow you to manipulate the image to create a single picture of your subject that is as clear and bright as possible.
